Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
June 16th: Newbury
6f Maiden c&g
  • Made a good price at the Keeneland September sales.
  • By second season sire who made a good start with his 2yos in 2004. However, they were not a precocious group and showed better form for 7f and the second half of the season. He only had two uncompetitive runners over 5f and the first win (6f) was not until June 23rd.
  • He has again had two uncompetitive runners over 5f before this one and one solid debut over 6f.
  • Dam was champion 2yo in Canada and has produced one minor 2yo winner.
  • Trainer seems to target his better types at debuts at the major courses (Newbury, York etc.) although he does not target debut wins now. His debuts at lesser courses tend to be moderate types. He has run two on debut at this course in 2005 with one second at 33/1 (won STO) and a better typed who was backed but ran poorly on firm ground.
  • In summary a good pedigree but probably only an average sales price given that suggesting just a solid physical type. Trainer's better debuts tend to be able to place at these major courses. Profile [67]
  • July 4th: Windsor
    6f Maiden
  • 5/2f at Newbury in a moderate to average maiden with nothing notably supported. Broke ok and 2L off an average pace after 1f. Moved up to 4th but just a half length off the lead at halfway. Challeneged for lead before the final furlong but held and both he and Mutawajid overtaken by Layazaal. Estimate [62]
  • A solid, and typical, debut for the trainer at the major courses.  Runners from that race have confirmed it as below average form - the 2nd beatn in a similar Chepstow maiden NTO, the 4th beaten in a moderate Brighton Auction and the 5th well beaten in a moderate & muddling Sandown maiden.
  • Trainer has had five STO runs by those that placed in maidens at better courses on debut this year. The latest two have won moderate races at odds-on, the first (in April finished 3rd and won 3TO after a break). The middle two were unplaced and disappointing to some extent although in both cases their debut form proved to be generally over-rated. Normal improvement and ok draw in 9 of 16.  Profile [71]
