June 20th: Nottingham
6f Maiden |
Owner bred by K. Abdulla.
By good sire that has a solid (if unexciting) record with 2yos. Ok for
getting 6f winners from May onwards and also for debut wins.
Dam quite well related and a 7-8f winner in France.
First 2yo runner of the season for an organised and consistent trainer
that takes 2yo reasonably seriously. Has had a variable number of 2yo runners
and winners over the last five seasons. A prime factor in this variability
is that around two thirds of the 2yos he runs are owner breds.
This is a later start than normal as he normally runs a few 2yos in April-May.
The earliest runners in each season are normally chosen as competitive
2yos at some level, including higher class types like Three Valleys (2003)
& Pike Bishop (2004). The earliest filly runners ahve included some
limited owner breds (usually on the small side).
He does not target FTO wins and runners tend to be around 8-16lbs below
their best on debut. The FTO wins usually come along with the useful or
superior runners, sometimes in combination with a moderate race. FTO SP
is not a consistent indicator of FTO performance nor ability.
Runners normally improve 2-14lbs on their second run. Those given longer
breaks can improve more.
