June 10th: Wolverhampton
6f Maiden |
Made a good price at the Tattersalls Part 1 sales but did not make the
Select session. Owned by the Sangster family.
Exceptional sire is now deceased. Has a good record with 2yos but runners
tend to develop with time. He has not had a 2yo winner before June in Britain
2002-4.
Gets occasional 5f wins but more quality and better record at 6f+.
He has had six runners in Britain in 2005. One has won over 6f and
three have placed on their debuts, two over 5f.
Dam very well related and full sister to Arc winner Carnegie. She did not
race.
National Hunt stable but has had between one to seven 2yo runners in the
last four seasons. Notably these 2yos have been relatively expensive sales
purchases. In 2003 he had an increase to 7 runners and these included 4
sales buys for more than 50k gns including three costing more than 100k
gns. These were for well known owners such as the late R. Sangster, Team
Havana and W. Farish jnr. In 2004 he only had one 2yo runner which cost
21k gns.
However, he does not target 2yo racing and the most runners will only have
2-3 runs in the season and most will be later season debuts. He has only
had one 2yo win in the last 4 seasons and none in 2002-4.
Debut runs tend to be at longer SPs and usually 12-14lbs below the best
rating for runners with ability.
His first runner 6 days ago who was even more expensive as a yearling finished
6th in a big field at 12/1.
