Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
May 21st: Newmarket
6f Maiden
  • Made a solid price at the Doncaster St Leger sales.
  • Reviewed ta the sales and rated 70 with an average chance of being a 2yo winner. Medium sized and just above medium build and deep in front. Slightly narrow though and weaker legged.
  • By a second season sire that made a good start with 2yos notable for good quality although an average number of winners. Got 6f winners but from May onwards.
  • As with many second season sires there are hints that his 2005 season may not be as good. All runners so far have been poor.
  • Dam has a very good pedigree but was showed moderate form at 4yo on her only season of racing. She has produced one moderate 7-12f runner and an unraced 2yo who sold for half the price.
  • Major trainer does not target strong debuts for the most part and strong debuts and wins are pretty sure signs of useful+ 2yos. However, he seems to have targeted this course for stronger debuts in 2004-5. His record in 2005 is 1 win and two places from 4 debuts here.
  • In summary a solid pedigree and an acceptable physical type. May be readier than the trainer's normal debut 2yos.  Profile [65]
  • June 3rd: Goodwood
    6f Maiden
  • 20/1 on debut at Newmarket in a race run in a notably slow time and developed into barely a 1.5F 'sprint. Did not look fit enough. Settled in 4th a length off the modest pace at halfway. Made a short effort as the race speeded up but no progress and faded in the last furlong losing ground to other runners. Estimate [42]
  • A moderate debut in a race which would not suit some runners. The 4th has won since and looked a different horses for making his own pace. Lack of positive vibes and market support a negative given the support for the trainer's better runners at Newmarket in 2005.  Profile [62]
  • June 16th: Newbury
    6f Maiden c&g
  • 12/1 at Goodwood and another tame effort. Led near the rail for the first 1f and then pressed the leader to past halfway. Still in 4th entering the last 1f having been outpaced earlier but faded badly to 10th. Estimate [30]
  • Moderate form so far and has got easily outpaced on both occasions and not finished the race off.  Profile [51]
