Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
June 6th: Windsor
6f Maiden
  • Made a good price at the Tattersalls part 1 sales and probably got into that sales (rather than being relegated to the Part 2 bumper catalogue) on physical inspection rather than pedigree.
  • Reviewed at the sales and rated 85, Average size but with heavy build and good scope to develop through his 2yo season. In proportion, strong overall and a balanced mover. Very likeable.
  • By First Season Sire that won over 6f in first half of its 2yo season. Sire made good impression at sales.
  • He has made a good start to 2005 with 5 individual winners from 15 runners and some hints of better quality. Many have looked of a particular physical type, slightly smaller in size but with heavy builds.
  • Dam unraced and half to minor winners although one placed in the Cornwallis (5f Gp3 for 2yos late season). She has produced a winner in Germany and a moderate 7f winner in Britain.
  • Good, reliable trainer targets a maiden win with 2yos in the first three runs. The better types will then run in conditions+ races and a few in nurseries.
  • He does not target strong debut runs and the FTO wins tend to come along with the best 2yos. Consider in 2003 that 7 of his first 10 2yos runners won on debut. This wasn't a 'plan' as such but a year when he had a lot of good 2yos. Six of those 7 have rated over 90 in their careers.
  • The debut wins tend to come in the period May to June and are often in the North or Midlands. This is related to the fact that his earliest debuts each season are a mix of his best and most precocious 2yos, sprinkled with a few duff ones (often owner breds). The best ones win on debut in this period
  • He has run four 2yos so far (all fillies) with two debuts wins and one second place in races in the north/midlands. The other filly was unplaced here and ran second in a chaotic, draw affected Sandown race STO.
  • In summary a lot of positives and well drawn in 13. Disappointing if he isn't good enough to compete strongly.  Profile [77]
