June 4th: Haydock
5f Maiden |
Made a solid price at the Doncaster St leger sales.
Reviewed at the sales and rated 68. Medium size and just above average
build. Slightly compact and leggy (often not a good combination) but an
ok little to medium sprinter.
First season sire made good impression at sales and yearlings sold well.
He won over 7f at 2yo but reverted to a top class sprinter at 3yo.
His early runners over 5f have competed just averagely well with places
but no wins. He had his first win with a debut runner over 6f in a moderate
to average Ayr maiden.
Dam a relatively cheap but who was a useful 6-7f 2yo.
Trainer used to have his own small stable but was appointed as private
trainer in owner J. Fretwell's new, purpose built stables in 2004.
When the trainer had his only stables the better 2yos used to rate around
60-65 on debut and improve 14lbs STO. Interesting to see his approach in
his new position.
He has had 7 debuts so far with the best types rating between 58-69 and
competitive win and place in weaker races. However, they have still shown
good improvement from the debut runs suggesting he still is not targeting
strong FTO runs.
In summary a similar type to Stratham who has already run for the trainer.
Sire's early season record over 5f suggests his 2yos need more time and/or
6f to show their best. Estimate [62]
