5f AW Auction |
Made low price at Tattersalls part 2 sales.
Sire has ordinary 2yo record and does not get 5f winners, early winners,
nor debut winners. In the wrong race on sire profile. However he has had
the Brocklesby 3rd in 2005 but that runner has got into two 5f races late
on. Another debut runner got into an uphill Pontefract 5f race late on
debut.
Dam has 6f+ pedigree and was unraced.
Trainer used to have his own small stable but was appointed as private
trainer in owner J. Fretwell's new, purpose built stables in 2004.
When the trainer had his only stables the better 2yos used to rate around
60-65 on debut and improve 14lbs STO. Interesting to see his approach in
his new position.
This runner not owned by J Fretwell so presumably the trainer bought some
of his previous owners with him. He has had one uncompetitive debut so
far in 2005 and that runner showed strong improvement to be runner-up STO.
In summary a 6f+ pedigree and hint from the trainer he still looks to 'development'
debuts. Receives 1lb from the topweight filly and 7lb from the top colt.

May 9th: Redcar
5f Novice |
14/1 on debut and a surprise winner. 3 lengths behind a good pace at halfway
she just had to keep on to win as the leaders faded and drifted left to
the far rail while she kept a straight course closer to the stands' rail.
Looked bigger than the shorter price pacemakers. Estimate [57]
Did not have to show 5f pace on debut to keep on for a surprise win. Difficult
to place that form but the subsequent performance of the second suggests
it may be over-rated. On the plus side she looked a bigger type and
the trainer's 2yos tend to improve for their debut runs. Gets no panalty
for that low level win and receives 5lb from the newcomer colts. In summary
has a number of positives but leaves the overall feeling that the other
winners will have too much pace on this fast 5f. Likely to be keeping on
at the end. Profile [55 + 5 = 60]

May 27th: Pontefract
6f Conditions |
7/2 at Redcar. Broke right handedly and slightly outpaced . 2L off the
leaders at halfway and drive along. Made progress inside 2f out as the
moderate leaders atrted to stall. Led 1F out and went clear despite carrying
carrying her head to one side and looking a little awkward in movement.
Estimate [63]
Steps up to 6f and this should be an advantage. Has shown only moderate
form so far. Filly versus colts and receives 9lb from the topweight colt.
Profile [66 + 9 = 75]
