April 5th: Declared for
Southwell AW Auction |
Bought for minimum price at the cheap Doncaster sales.
Second season sire who showed more speed as a 2yo than his pedigree promised
(trained by M Channon who is notable for getting 5-6f wins with 'pedigrees'
that other trainers would not).
Made a below average start with his 2yos in 2004 with only 7 winners and
no real quality. The wins covered the range 5.7f (uphill) to 10f and he
had no 5f winner. He did not have a winner before June 30th (trained by
his old friend M Channon) which was at 7f.
Sire has had a debut winner over 5f in 2005 but in a slow race which was
not a true 5f test.
Dam had mixed pedigree and showed best form over 11f at 3yo. Produced a
minor 6f winner with her first foal and poor runners since.
Trainer does not target FTO wins and runners are usually well below final
rating on debut.
Trainer has had three runners so far in 2005 with one placed at 11/2 and
the others unplaced, both at 7/2f.
In summary a moderate pedigree and not promising 5f speed. Trainer has
not had his runners competitive on debut so far and this one does not look
like the superior type which can occasionally win for him early in the
season. Profile [28]

April 5th: Southwell
Post Race |
11/2 third favourite and an acceptable debut at a low level by trainer
standards. Always prominent and plugging on in fourth in the last furlong.

April 11th: Declared for
Southwell 5f Auction |
Trainer's runners usually show improvement from debut to STO run. He has
already had a STO winner of a similar race here with a filly that showed
better form than this one on her debut. This runner probably has less scope
to improve than Amber Glory for the trainer.

May 2nd: Doncaster
5f Novice |
Won at 11/2 at Southwell showing moderate improvement in a moderate time.
Estimate [52]
Led at halfway and kept on to win on Fibresand LTO. Penalised 4lb for that
win and would receive 1lb from a newcomer colt. Has not shown 5f speed
and has looked limited by her size and likely to show limited improvement
here. Profile [55 + 1 = 56]

May 14th: Thirsk
5f Novice |
5/1 at Doncaster and produced a notable improvement. The only runner able
to lay up with Crocodile Bay and kept on well to chase him to the line
with the other previous winners well beaten. Kept on well as she has done
in her previous races. Estimate [68]
Trainer has his three early season fillies well conditioned and they have
all looked very fit and well muscled in recent runs and ahead of the average.
Showed good improvement LTO and has scope to improve a little further.
Penalised 2lb for her win. Profile [72 - 2 = 70]
