Sold for a reasonable price at the cheaper Doncaster sales but carries
no penalty because of the price.
Sire has just an average record with 2yos given the opportunities he has
had and few of quality.
His record in 2004 when he got three 5f winners would suggest he is an
acceptable producer of 5f runners. However, two of those runners were in
low quality races (one a seller and the other on Heavy going) and the other
runner won on soft going and rated 30lbs higher over 7f. In 2003-4 he had
no winners over 5f. In summary his record is better over 6f+ and later
in the season.
The dam has a mixed pedigree and was bred by the Aga Khan studs but has
presumably been sold on. She showed reasonable placed form at 2yo but no
form when stepped up to 10f at 3yo.
Younger trainer is still developing his style. He decided in 2002 to target
2yo racing and brought in an agent to help with the sales buys. This lead
to an excellent season in 2003 including Group 1 winner with owner bred
Milk It Mick. 2004 was, as would be expected, less good and the stable
seemed to have illness problems to add to a less good group.
Along with the change in buying policy in 2002 he also said that he felt
he had been too obsessed with fitness and intended to make less ready debut.
In line with this he has had 6 FTO winners from 71 2yos in 2003-4 and these
have tended to be the best 2yos.
The very earliest runners in 2004 were more competitive as a group (making
places and the superior Berkhamsted winning) than in 2003 when none of
the early runners placed (including Milk It Mick, although he gave them
a 10 length start and still nearly got there).
In summary an acceptable pedigree for a minor 6f+ winner in the season
but unlikely to be best suited to 5f. Trainer has varied the readiness
of his runners in the last 4 seasons so difficult to know precisely what

Started at 6/1 in a moderate to average race and never got competitive
behind a good pace and a professional performances from the first two.
Ran slightly below expectations. Estimate [49]

April 18th: Windsor
5f Maiden |
Does not have a 'speed ' 5f pedigree and was uncompetitive on debut in
a respectably fast race downhill at Lingfield. Trainer had a more competitive
debut at the same course later in the week.
First STO runner for the trainer and should show solid improvement but
from a low base. Profile [59]

Rated 74. Rating probably close to an 'at best'. Only medium size and build
in the group. Ok strength behind but slightly weaker front. On the positive
side he was a ready type and a good mover despite being slightly up behind.
Probably the readiest type in the field and others had more scope to develop.
The trainer's first STO runner of the season and reportedly "too inexperienced
on debut" to show his best. 14/1 and very professional here. Broke well
and set his own pace along the stands' rail (probable advantage). Won slightly
comfortably but in a middling time. A number of his stronger rivals may
have made their own difficulties. Estimate [70]

May 2nd: Doncaster
5f Novice |
Showed good professionalism and ok pace at Windsor in a race where he had
several advantages.
The trainer has used the race in 2002 for a similar early season winner.
Ought to be improve a little further but did not look to have great scope
at Windsor. Penalised 8lb compared to a newcomer colt in the race. Profile

May 18th: Goodwood

15/8f at Doncaster and produced a professional performance to win comfortably.
Crossed in front of the field to the rail and set a good pace and led by
a length at halfway. Made an effort at halfway and went clear of the field
with one other chasing. Won a little comfortably with the jockey asking
for enough effort to remain clear. Estimate [79]
The subsequent run of Countrywide Belle who finished second to him at Doncaster
makes that form look suspect. Her trainer has a filly who he presumably
feel is better than her in this race. Has looked a speedy early season
type but with limited development potential. Profile [82]

June 4th: Epsom

10/1 6th favourite at Goodwood. Broke well and got to the rail after a
frlong byt cutting across Memphis Man. Set a solid pace to halfway when
the winner quickened by to take a 2L lead. This set the others off to chase
but the formed a line of 6 and got in each other's way. Had the advantage
of the rail and styed with theis group and kept on in the finish to 3rd,
hampering Memphis Man in the process. Estimate [85]
The Goodwood race was messy and he had the advantage of a rail run and
a good starting position when the race quickened. The value of the form
behind the winner seemed qustionable with 6 runners in a bunch. The only
subsequent runner has been Memphis Man (who might well have beaten him
but for being cut up twice) who ran poorly in the National Stakes 6 days
ago (not helped by a cntre course draw when the rail, especially in the
last 2f, looked advantageous).
On the positive side his front running style should be an advantage and
his pedigree says 6f will be fine. Profile [86]

Poorly drawn at Epsom but a disappointing run anyway. A slightly slow break
and ran quite hard in the first furlong and still only in midfield and
wide ont he course. More than 4L off the lead at halfway and no response
and faded and slightly eased in the last 1.5f. Estimate [34]
Steps up to which seems ok on pedigree but couldn't be confident about
him seeing the trip out given his poor run last time. Profile [84]
