June 9th: Wolverhampton
6f Maiden |
Made a good price at the Goffs sales in Ireland.
High class sire has a good but not startling record with 2yos. Gets winners
at all distances and get high quality types. Gets occasional 5f winners
(3 in the period 2002-4) but better record 6f+.
He has had two moderate runners so far in 2005, both over 6f. One appeared
to show improved for 6f here.
Dam trained by M Prescott showed just average form over 6-7f for her first
5 runs at 2yo and won a nursery comfortably 5TO off OR76 to break her maiden.
She the appeared to show improvement for 8f and soft going in late season
winning another nursery off OR85 and two French Group 3s on 'Heavy'
(beating other British trained 2yos in both races). Did not run at
3yo.
Trainer's debuts has been consistent in 2005 and have been competent while
lacking the final edge. All of the first nine debuts have made the first
6 although only the best type has won (in a slow race on soft ground where
a number of others did not act on the ground.). The latest debuts have
shown a higher ratings until the tenth debut which was the lowest rating
and only 7th.
He then had a poor debut yesterday at a long SP.
He has said in interview in the last week that he has a better batch of
2yos to run after the 'Ascot-York' meeting next week.
In summary a solid but unproven pedigree and hints that 6f is his minimum
and better for 7f+. Interesting to see whether he's one of the first of
the better batch or an ordinary one. Profile [58]
