Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
March 19th: Entered for -
Lingfield 5f (AW)
Conditions Race (D1)
  • By a good sire with a notably good 2yo winner to runner record. Sire get winners at range of distances but solid record at 5-6f and can also get early runners. Sire can get FTO winners.
  • Out of an unplaced dam who has produced winners, including a good 8f 2yo, with her previous two foals.
  • Trainer is notable for having his runners ready for early season debuts and professional on debut. He has entered three for this race and all were bought for prices above his normal range.
  • Trainer had 33/1 2nd in this race in 2004 with cheap buy.
  • In summary, the trainer has entered three very interesting 2yos for a race of this quality and this probably just the second best. The dam has produced ok quality winners and sire a positive. Has good prospects to be competitive for a place. Profile [61]
  • March 20th: Post Race
  • Finished 2nd at 5/1 second favourite.
  • Very fit on debut and typical colour and type of trainer buys. Lacks some size and limited scope to develop. Very 'up' behind and needs to level up.
  • Given hold-up ride and had to switch off rail to 4+ wide in straight but showed acceptably good finish for level of race to move through to second from 5th. Should have finished closer to the winner. Received 5lb from winner.
  • Showed enough to be 60s rated winner in the Intellibet One or Danifah mode but not a The Crooked Ring. Estimate [53]
  • March 29th: Entered for
    Yarmouth 5.2f
    Auction (E)
  • Although very fit on debut she was not given a ride that enabled her to perform to her best. Ought to be able to reach her Paddock Review rating of 62 in this race and ought to be helped by 5.2f given her fitness and strong finish on debut.
  • Note that she is the topweighted filly because of her sales price and carries the same weight as the cheaply bought colts.  Profile [62]
  • March 29th: Declared for
    Warwick 5f Mf (5)
  • Has missed entries in previous races which have looked weaker than this one to run here.
  • Trainer has had one runner in race before with 70+ winner who finished 4th on debut.
  • Jockey JP Spencer again rides and seems to be the trainer's jockey of choice at present (Aidan O'Brien, David Evans, they are all just jobs in horseracing, aren't they). Hasn't ridden the two trainer 2yos quite in the way you'd like so far.
  • On fitness and experience and the finish she showed at Lingfield she ought to set the standard for the newcomers but is not unbeatable by a useful filly. Note that the form of the runners who finished behind her at Lingfield have tended to confirm the view that was a moderate race for £12k.  Profile [62]
  • March 29th:
    POST RACE
  • Unlike her debut run she was ridden prominently and railed well. She went clear from 2f out as the weaker runners stalled and folded.
  • The failure of the other better runners on profile led to an easy 5 lengths win but an average time.
  • She looked to have improved professionalism from debut and slightly tightened up. Estimate [65]
  • March 31st : Declared
    5f Conditions - Brocklesby
    at Doncaster
  • Runs two days after her win at Warwick.
  • Has 4lb penalty for the win, receives only 1lb from unpenalised colts.
  • Trainer runs two (both off short breaks) and on jockeys this is the first string.
  • In summary a mature and ready 2yo but lacking great scope. Trainer tends to step these types up to conditions races in early season and they often compete well because of their relative fitness and readiness. Can probably get close to 70 but vulnerable to better types especially under he penalty.  Profile [71-4 = 67]
  • March 31st: Doncaster
    Post Race
  • Was allowed to use her natural speed from the start for the first time and was clear on her part of the track. She kept on well and improved her rating a little. She can probably rate 70+ and would be competitive in races such as the Lily Agnes, Hilary Needler and the National Stakes depending upon those race's quality. Given the trainer's methods and the fact she's run three times already she might well run in all three of those races and place in two of them. She'd be difficult to catch if she got stall 1 at Chester in the Lily Agnes for example. Estimate [69]
  • April 23rd: Lingfield
    5f Conditions
  • The form of the Brocklesby behind the first two has looked moderate with the 4th-7th beaten since (unusual) and seller runners further back.
  • However, clearly the best of here trainer's two runners here and has shown that she can both front-run and produce a finish (on this course). Lacks scope to develop but a speedy, early type and this is the type of race she can win before stepped up in class. Penalised 4lb for her win.  Profile [74 + 1 = 75]
  • May 4th: Chester
    5f Conditions
  • Ran well at Lingfield under her penalty and was given another slightly 'inert' ride by her jockey before he asked her to pick up in the straight. Kept on well at the finish after (possibly) getting slightly outpaced early in the straight.  Profile [75]
  • Receives 5lb from the topweight colts in the race she has always looked destined for. She is vulnerable to better types because she probably has very little improvement.  Profile [75 + 5 =80]
  • May 4th: Chester
    Post Race
  • 4/1 second favourite. Having her fifth race and her trainer has had 50+ runners since his last winner although she had run a good second in that period. Looked a little "tired" & "down" in the paddock and not at her best. Broke second best from stall 4 and ran hard in first furlong to settle 2nd but with the rail position. Travelled second around half a length off the lead to past halfway.
  • Slightly outpaced as the leader pressed on 2f out and she was slightly hampered as he cut across her to the rail. After that the jockey did not press her hard and just kept on. Ran below expectations and the mix of minor issues noted could have caused that. However, she would probably only have been third at best and the first two look better class. Estimate [66]
  • June 1st: Beverley
    5f Listed Fillies'
  • Given a break since a below expectation run in the Lily Agnes. Even though she ran below form she looked to have reached the limit of her ability level.
  • Trainer runs two here and neither are well drawn and she is in 5 of 14. J Murtagh rides and A Munro rides Waterline Twenty. Neither are regular riders of 2yos for the stable.  Profile [74]
  • June 15th: York
    5f Group 2 Fillies'
  • 12/1at Beverley in a race on rain softened ground with a good pace and field split into two groups. Race in the smalle stands' side group and within a length of the leader overall at halfway .Faded from before 1f out.  Estimate [66]
  • Has not looked at her best physically in her last two races but has looked the limited, early season, cheap speed filly she apperead on day one of the season. Trainer runs two and she is the second string on jockeys.  Profile [73]
