Kempton 5f
Maiden - (D2) |
Also declared for the Musselburgh 5f race on March 27th
Better than basement price for DOC sales.
By a First Season Sire trained by D. Loder in (Fr) and made early debut
and won over 5.5f. B2yoR rated 8 of his yearlings at sales and these were
mostly moderate.
Dam was a 5f winner at a low level and has produced one poor runner from
three previous foals.
Reviewed at the sales and was small but with solid build and a neat, little
sprinter type. Rated 64 and seen as probably being competitive in early
races rating in the 60s.
Trainer gets 2yos ready and professional on debut and better ones can win.
Normally enters runners in suitable races.
Trainer had two runners in first 2yo race but both moderate types and both
faded after making and pressing the pace. Neither was fully fit on debut.
In summary ought to be a competitive little sprinter at 60+ level in early
races but ought to be better runners in these days. Profile [57]

POST RACE |
Steady around 8/1.
He was close enough and had a clear run but finished the wrong side of
the three length 'garbage gap' in a volunteer fourth.
Another poor debut run by the trainer at this course and more notably another
uncompetitive run by his 2yos this season.
Is he not getting them as ready on debut as he used to or is he saving
his better 2yos (if he has them) for something else, like Doncaster? Estimate

April 2nd: Declared
for Doncaster Auction |
Trainer has regularly used this race for minor (seller/claimer and/or AW
winners). Receives 1lb from the topweight colt.
Trainer has had very poor start to the season with no runners competitive
and STO runs showing no worthwhile improvement. Profile [50]

April 2nd: Doncaster
Post Race |
had put in a dull run on debut in line with his trainer's runners so far
in the season. This was the first sign of a better run by one of his runners
at 4/1 2nd favourite. Estimate [62]

April 23rd: Lingfield
5f Conditions |
Finished well behind Wovoka on debut who is also in the race. The form
of his win at Doncaster is moderate. Similar run here. Profile

May 4th: Chester
5f Conditions |
Showed improved form at Lingfield and keeping on at the end of the race
after getting outpaced by the winner early in the straight. Estimate

The trainer usually chooses his best 2yo for this race. He has had a poor
year and the only alternative would have been Lord Jack Flash who ran at
Thirsk 4 days before. Would not expect further improvement and meets Danjet
on 1lb worse terms and she beat him at Lingfield. Profile [70 + 3 =

May 4th: Chester
Post Race |
16/1 7th favourite. Appears to have developed to be his trainer's best
2yo after probably being second ranked in early season. He is smallish
and compact but has muscled up well in into speedy little sprinter although
limited by his range.
Broke 3rd from stall 6 and ran hard in the first furlong to establish a
half length lead 1 off he rail. His jockey then settled him as the pacemaker
until quickened the race from halfway and cut across Danjet to the rail
1.5 furlong out. Gained a little over the other runners by this effort
but the first two travelled well behind and quickened away from him. Did
best of the pacemakers to keep on for 3rd. Ran to expectations and probably
has limited scope to develop that rating. Estimate [72]

May 22nd: Brighton
6f Novice |
A slight surprise he steps up to 6f even though on a faster track. Showed
good pacemaking at Chester LTO but easily outpaced by the better types.
Before that had been keeping on in a 5f AW race. Ought to stay 5f and likely
to press the pace and get a lead. Likely to be vulnerable to better types
on the uphill section here.
Carries topweight and gives up to 6lb to the other colts. He has the usual
stable 5lb apprentice to partly offset that penalty. Profile [72]
