Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
March 19th: Entered for -
Lingfield 5f (AW)
Conditions Race (D1)
  • Retained at sales but for a reasonable price for the DSL sales.
  • By veteran sire who has a good record with 2yos. Has better record at 6f+ but can get precocious 5f types.
  • Second foal of quite well related Dam with an acceptable pedigree to produce sprint 2yos.
  • Trainer has had early debuts in 2003-4 but they have all needed their debut to develop from.
  • Trainer's early debuts have usually been at short SPs more in line with his 'shrewd' reputation than the actual performance so far.
  • In summary a solid pedigree and acceptable sales price given quality of this race. However, record of trainer with FTO runners suggests this one will need to be superior to win this race. Course puts an emphasis on early pace and professionalism at the stalls.  Profile [55]
  • March 20th: Post Race
  • Finished 6th at 11/2 fourth favourite and another trainer debut runner at too short an SP.
  • Not fit enough on debut and mentally young. However, has some build to develop to 60s rating.
  • Showed more in race than finishing position suggests. Broke well and led on rail for 1 furlong before losing position downhill and around bend. Some response in straight before fading last 1 furlong.
  • Low level of form but not a lost cause given the scope for mental and physical development. Estimate [34]
  • March 29th: Entered for
    Yarmouth 5.2f
    Auction (E)
  • On paddock review she has scope to develop to low 60s but given level of fitness and mental sharpness on debut it would be surprising if she were to show that level of improvement for 9 days break.
  • Expect an improved run and watch whether she sees out the 5.2f.  Profile [48+2 = 50]
  • March 29th: Yarmouth
    Post Race
  • Ran similar race style to debut by leading for 3f+, then appearing to stall (possibly outpaced) before plugging on again in the last furlong for a moderate third in a moderate race.  Estimate [47]
  • April 25th: Windsor
    5f Auction Fillies
  • 4 week break from STO but stays at 5f. Form of her Yarmouth ace looks poor in retrospect and confirms rating view.
  • Trainer has had only two runners and no winner so far.
  • Probably well drawn in 12 and has assisted with pacemaking previously. Joint topweight in this acution race with only a 4lb range.  Profile [57]
