May 21st: Newmarket
6f Maiden |
Made a high price at the Goffs sales. Originally named Radiant Monarch
but changed to Emirates Gold. Such name changes are often informative with
Godolphin indicating better types.
By sire with a very good and consistent record with 2yos. Gets early, precocious
sprinters and good record with debut runners. Solid percentage of useful+
2yos. Notable for runners having better record on GF+ going.
Sire has had two winners this season on firmer ground.
Dam was reasonably well bred and had an unusual racing career. She showed
high class form at 2-3yo and placed in Group races. However, she never
won and placed 2nd on seven occasions at 2yo. Her first foal was a full
brother who has been an average 6f winner in Ireland.
Second 2yo runner of the season for a good trainer with the best raw material
and resources available. Before 2004 he used to train only the occasional
2yo as Darley/Godolphin used D Loder for their 2yo training. In 2004 they
took the 2yo training 'in house' and Mr Suroor jumped into second place
in the individual 2yos run table with 91. Of those 48 won and the strike
rate was around 30%.
He targets maiden wins in the first two runs and the better 2yos step up
to high class races.
His first runners in 2004 were at a similar time of the season at the York
Dante meeting. He had 4 debuts in May and the two York debut were beaten
and won STO before the end of May. The other two debuts included one FTO
winner and one very disappointing filly who was an expensive US 2yo buy.
Two of the four ran at Royal Ascot but were useful types rather than the
stable 'stars'.
The first runner for the stable looked an average filly at best and she
finished well beaten after losing ground at the start.
In summary likely to be a better type and more competent on debut at ths
bigger track than Perfect Beat was at Windsor 5 days ago. Profile
