Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
June 6th: Pontefract
6f Fillies' Auction
  • Made a low price at the Tattersalls Ireland sale and a small increase on the foal price.
  • Sire now in his fourth season and made good impression in 2002 with his first 2yos. After two ok seasons with less runners this season should see him with more runners in recognition of the good start in 2002. He can get early 6f types.
  • Sire has already had a two 5f winners and a good placer as well as a batch of moderate 2yos. Both winners have been on debut.
  • Dam an 8f winner in Germany has not produced a winner since her 98 foal who won over 8f and made a much better sales price.
  • Trainer normally has his runners competent and ready to compete on debut - particularly from late May onwards. His earliest debuts can be more variable and in 2002-4 many have not developed nor won.
  • In 2005 he has run nine 2yos and most of the early ones competed poorly on debut including one that was backed from 33/1 to 5/1 at Beverley.
  • His latest three debuts have been better including a FTO win in a poor fillies' auction at Beverley.
  • In summary likely to be a moderate physical type but the trainer appears to have his 2yos more competitive now.  Profile [50 + 7 = 57]
  • June 19th: Pontefract
    6f Fillies' Maiden
  • 50/1 on debut with a 3lb apprentice. Slow start and 6L off the lead at halfway and around 5L at halfway. Some progress in the straight to 5th and a little promise. Estimate [54]
  • The form of the race she ran in here was boosted notably when the winner finished 2nd at the Royal Meeting but that probably gives the wrong impression of the overall form. The second has won a moderate Goodwood maiden as comfortably as she ought to have done given the low quality opposition. The 6th (behind her) was backed to 4/6f in a 7.2f maiden at Ayr yesterday and never had the pace to get into that race. Trainer's debuts have been much more forward recently and probably limted improvement. Estimate [64]
