Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
April 7th: Declared for
Leicester 5f Maiden
  • Made solid price at Tattersalls October part 2 sales.
  • By a first season sire who was trained in Germany and won over 7f as a 2yo and up to 11f later. Has a mixed pedigree.
  • Old dam was a 2yo winner in Germany and has produced 9 previous winners (two as 2yos) who have all run in Germany.
  • Trainer's earliest debut runners (before end April) are usually winners during the season, often STO.
  • Trainer has good record with 2yos but targets STO wins and debuts normally competent while leaving room for good improvement STO.
  • He used only to get debut winners with runners in Italy. However in 2003-4 he had 5 debut winners although some of those seemed to be 'accidents' whereby the natural competence of his debut runners was enough to win weak races.
  • He has only had two runners in 2005 so far, one that was another debut win at 11/2 in a weak race and another, better type, who was quite inexperienced in a midfield debut yesterday.
  • In summary the trainer has used the race to introduce a better, 'development', 2yo previously. This one does not have a 5f pedigree although 5f on soft here with an uphill stretch is unlikely to be a real speed test. On evidence of two debut runs so far would only be competitive for a win if reasonably professional and a weak race. Profile [56]
  • April 7th: Leicester
    Post Race
  • A disappointing type in paddock review, small and underpowered, especially in front. The positives were she was neat and mature and gave a professional performance. Travelled well just behind the moderate pace set by the limited leader. Went on with the winner as the moderate types stalled. Performed to expectations in a slow race that was not a 5f speed test.
  • Her maturity and professionalism should enable her to win early rating in the 60s but not obviously one to follow and always vulnerable to a bigger 2yo.  Estimate [56]
  • April 13th: Declared
    Newmarket 5f Mf
  • Seen at Leicester and disappointingly small and lightly built. The positives were that she was neat, mentally mature and uses herself well in faster paces. She was rated 64 and seen as being competitive in early season but lacking scope to develop.
  • She showed good professionalism in that race but it was not a 5f test.
  • In summary likely to improve from debut to rate in the 60s but not obviously a 5f type and lacking scope to develop. Vulnerable to bigger and/or more speedy types although her readiness and previous run will be a big help in this race.  Profile [68]
  • April 13th: Newmarket
    Post Race
  • Professional on debut and finished second in a moderate race that was not a 5f test. She lost some ground with a slightly slow pick up and got into a position on the stands side of the group well away from the pacemakers and this was probably a disadvantage. In a race with a solid pace she in effect gave those runners a 2 length start. She was never competitive with the first five (four of whom came from the far 'pace' side). However she moved forward as the race quickened and was still going forward at the finish.
  • She is in a typical bind of being a small filly that needs 6f and probably 7f but will struggle against better types later in the season. Despite her limitations she has the advantage of a professional attitude and may find a race while rating under 70.  Estimate [57]
  • May 10th: Yarmouth
    6f Auction
  • Has been given a break after two early attempts over 5f which nearly achieved a cheap win on debut in a poor race on soft going. Had her limitations over 5f exposed in better company on her next run but was going on at the finish and this 6f should be more suitable. Her size means she has limited scope to develop and vulnerable to better types. Penalised the maximum amount for her sales price and that goes some way to off-setting her racing experience.  Profile [64 -2 = 62]
