March 27th:
Entered for
Musselburgh
5f Maiden |
Above bargain basement price for DOC sales.
Sire had indifferent pedigree and rated 107 at best but hanging on with
a record of producing 2yo sprinters, very occasionally useful+. Ok for
producing 5f early at this level.
Dam had miler pedigree but was non-precocious and slow over any distance.
Produced on poor runner.
Trainer in second full season and 2yos were uncompetitive on debut in 2004.

April 5th: Declared for
Southwell AW Auction |
Sold for a solid price in the context of this race.
By sire who has average record with 2yos given the opportunities he has
had. Can get early 5f 2yos and occasionally useful+ types.
Dam had 8f+ pedigree an was slow over any distance in her athletic career.
Has produced one slow runner so far.
Trainer had moderate start with first full season of 2yos in 2004 and hints
that he hadn't yet developed a sure touch with debuts, including in early
season.
He has run three 2yos in 2005, all in sellers with a 7lb apprentice riding.
All have finished last without achieving a rating. While one of those was
small and limited the others cost 8k & 3k gns so further evidence that
the trainer may not have a sure touch with debuts. Low profile in line
with that. Profile [22]

April 12th: Declared
Musselburgh 5f Auction |
Ran a poor debut with a 7lb apprentice riding and not achieving a rating
(as have all of his trainer's runners in 2005). Switches to turf but no
positives to believe he will show other than poor form again.

66/1, broke right-handed, behind at halfway and strong fade after than.
Estimate

Drops to seller and trainer's 2yos have all run poorly and no promise.

May 10th: Musselburgh
5f Auction |
33/1 at Catterick showed the first signs of 'form' by a trainer 2yo. With
a senior jockey he was within a length of the pacemaker at halfway and
plugged on to pass them late on as the pacemakers folded. However caught
by a filly who had been outpaced and kept on better. Estimate
[41]
Showed improved form 3TO and trainer's 2yos have seemed to need at least
3 runs to show any worthwhile form. In theory steps up from a seller but
this is a Class 7 auction and he is the topweight colt. The filly that
beat him at Catterick has run ok in a better Claimer since and the filly
in 3rd won a moderate claimer NTO. So the form looks solid although at
a very low level. Penalised 3lb for sales price. Profile [45 - 3 =42]
