April 25th: Windsor
5f Auction Fillies |
Made lowish price at Tattersalls part 2 sales.
Reviewed at sales and smallish but with solid build in front although lighter
behind. Lacked scope but probably capable of low to mid-60s rating.
By a second season sire that made a good start with 2yos notable for good
quality although an average number of winners. Got 5f winners but from
May onwards.
Dam won over 7f at 4yo. Has produced three moderate to low average runners
that sold much better than this one.
Major trainer does not target strong debut runs and FTO wins come along
with the better types. He has made a slow start to 2005 with 2 wins. The
debut runs have been typical but lacking the final 'edge' that would make
them competitive to win.
He regularly introduces 2yos at Windsor. In 2005 he ran 12 2yos on debut
here and only the best won (Cornus), four others placed at SPs between
3/1 to 9/1.
He has run 3 fillies in this race in the last 2 seasons, two were seller
level and on a 70+ winner (started 7/2jf and possibly for the same owners).
He runs two and this one has R Moore riding.
In summary the sales price lessens confidence and likely to be a moderate
type and to need 6f+. Probable second string for trainer but with better
draw and more 'competitive' debut jockey. Receives 2lb from the topweights
in a race with a 4lb range. Profile [53 + 2 = 55]

May 9th: Wolverhampton
5.1f Auction Fillies' |
8/1 in market with no strong clues and a 5/1f. Stable second string to
easy winner who went from 8/1 to 7/1. Drawn and race on the stands' side
and then swicthed to the far side with the rest of that group at halfway
on the softer going. Lost ground in that manoeuvre but kept on well enough
for a remote third. Estimate [44]
Well behind Give Me The Night LTO who she meets in this race. Trainer targets
STO 'peaks' and won this race in 2003 with a similar filly switched from
the turf STO. Profile [62 + 1 = 63]

June 8th: Newbury
6f Fillies' Auction |
7/2 at Wolverhampton on day where the rail and racing prominently were
an advantage. Those runners that ran wide in the straight made no progress.
Tracked the pace in 5th more than 3L behind at halfway. Pulled wide into
the straight and showed a high, striding action. Did not look a speed filly
and made no progress. Estimate [49]
Trainer runs four in the race and she looks to be th second string to the
likely favourite. Moderate improvement STO but looked in the wrong race
in a fastish 5f on a turning track. Action suggested either she didn't
like the surface or is more of a 'galloper' than a speed filly. Steps up
to 6f after a break. Profile [60 + 5 = 65]
