April 25th: Windsor
5f Auction Fillies |
Made lowish to middling price at Tattersalls part 2 sales.
By veteran sire who has a good record with 2yos. Has better record at 6f+
but can get precocious 5f types.
Dam was US bred but showed moderate form over sprint distances at 4yo in
the UK.
Major trainer does not target 2yo racing and has a moderate record with
them. The last three seasons have been poor. He is notable for not
targeting strong debuts and debut wins are very rare (usually with Maktoum
owner breds in later season).
Each season the trainer has run a number of sales buys targeted at 2yo
racing as well as those that are Maktoum family owned. He does not have
a good record with these although they tend to be readier than his usual
debut. This debut is earlier than his normal start and might suggest she
has shown some natural ability.
In summary a pedigree that could produce a minor winner. The trainer almost
never gets debut winners but the early start with this one is interesting.
Well drawn in 14 and receives 2lb from the topweights in a race with a
4lb range. May make the first 4-6 but unlikely to be ready to compete to
win. Profile [53 + 2 = 55]

May 9th: Wolverhampton
5.1f Auction Fillies' |
13/2 second favourite in a market with no clues and a 5/1f (drifted from
11/2). Raced stands' side but switched towards the far side with t he rest
of the field at halfway on the softer going. Got to second before the final
furlong and plugged on well enough although well beaten by the clear winner.
Estimate [55]
Trainer's earliest season debuts in 2003-4 have not shown as much progress
as normal on their second runs and have not won until 3TO at best. This
filly made a slightly better debut but in a muddling race. Profile [63

June 1st: Beverley
5f Listed Fillies |
Evens favourite at Wolverhampton and showed good pace to break well and
cross in front of the field to lead on the rail. Set a solid pace and more
than a length clear entering the straight and kept on for a comfortable
win from Miss Brush who she meets here. Estimate [66]
Poorly drawn in 4 here and surrounded by other front runners. Trainer has
not had a runner in the race in the last three years. Profile

June 15th: York
5f Group 2 Fillies' |
4/1 and supported at Beverly and ridden by Dettori on a rare visit tot
he course. Race run on rain softened ground and field split into two. She
started the break by breaking quickly and crossing to the far rail and
setting a good pace there and led overall at halfway. Lost ground just
by going the long way around the bend but kept on quite well for 4th.
Estimate [71]
Can improve a little further. Profile [76]
