  • Made lowish to middling price at Doncaster St Leger sales. Owned by J Fretwell who has his own private training stables.
  • Third season sire made average start with his 2yos in 2003 but had a poor season with less runners and quality in 2004. He only ever won a 6f himself and his better types in 2003 were 6f winners. His only winner at 5f has been in a seller on an uphill course.
  • Dam has quite stout pedigree and was unraced. She has a moderate record at stud and had produced one minor 6f winner in the UK.
  • Trainer used to have his own small stable but was appointed as private trainer in owner J. Fretwell's new, purpose built stables in 2004.
  • When the trainer had his only stables the better 2yos used to rate around 60-65 on debut and improve 14lbs STO. Interesting to see his approach in his new position. 
  • The trainer has had three runners so far in 2005. The first expensive runner for this owner ran a poor debut after each-way support but improved notably STO. The next two runners have won on debut which probably gives the wrong message. Neither of these were 'wound up' and won at 14/1 and 8/1 after only needing to be mostly competent to win moderate races where the favourites failed.
  • In summary a moderate pedigree which ought to need 6f at least. Despite having two debuts wins from three runs in 2005 you couldn't say that the average trainer debut would be able to win a race of this strength.  Profile [53]

  • 9/1 joint 4th favourite at Nottingham. Broke slowly and ran the rail. More than 5L off the leaders at halfway and no progress in finishing 10th.  Estimate [45]
