Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
March 28th:
Entered for
Redcar 5f Maiden
  • Bought at the Keeneland September yearling sales in 2004 by "Kiwi TB".
  • US based second season sire was trained in UK. Unraced at 2yo and made debut at 10f and developed over long career to show best form at 5-6yo over 9f on dirt. Had eight 2yo winners in US in 2004 including a minor 6f stakes winner.
  • This runner sold for above the sire's $12.6k average.
  • Dam a 4yo winner in the US and related to minor/average winners.
  • Trainer had poor season in 2004 and was not comparable to his previous results and methods. Early runners are likely to be competitive for wins in the season (along with occasional 'duff' one being got out of the way). Debut runs are usually competent and better runners can place and win.
  • In summary an interesting 2yo. Entered early suggests an ok 2yo type despite his pedigree. Ought to be competent on debut and a short SP (<9/2) with a little support would be significant. Profile [59]
  • April 16th: Nottingham
    5f Maiden
  • Declared for Redcar race but the meeting was abandoned. The trainer has not had a 2yo runner yet in 2005 which is unusual.
  • Slightly raise profile. Profile [62]
  • April 16th: Nottingham
    Post Race
  • No confidence on debut for the trainer's first runner of the season - drifted from 9/1 to 12/1. Unruly in stalls and drawn 1 furthest away from the stands' rail where the pacemaking group formed. Broke left handed but got back to be within 1.5 lengths of the leaders at halfway behind a moderate to average pace. Soon outpaced inside 2f out as the race quickened and faded.  Estimate [30]
  • April 29th: Musselburgh
    5f Maiden
  • The trainer has had very different seasons in 2003 and 2004 with a good group in 2003 and mediocre in 2004. When he has better 2yos they  they tend to make early debuts and be competitive to place and sometimes win. In 2004 he did not show this tendency. He has made a slow start to 2005 and this one was his first runner and there were no positive vibes before the race and a poor run in it.
  • The trainer had his third debut runner yesterday and she was backed from 14/1 to 6/1 in a moderate Redcar race and ran respectably without placing.
  • In summary this one has a non 5f  pedigree and showed little on debut and got outpaced. Unlikely to be better on this fast, flat 5f. No positives overall to suggest other than moderate improvement. Profile [52]
