Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
May 15th: Ripon
6f Maiden
  • Made a good price at the Doncaster St Leger sales, notably above the prices paid for the dam's previous foals.
  • By a good sire with a notably good 2yo winner to runner record. Sire get winners at range of distances but solid record at 5-6f and can also get early runners. Sire can get FTO winners. He has already had three good 5f winners and a good 6f placer (this week at York) in 2005.
  • Dam was a poor sprint winner and has produced two moderate 2yos.
  • Trainer had poor season in 2004 and was not comparable to his previous results and methods. Early runners are likely to be competitive for wins in the season (along with occasional 'duff' one being got out of the way). Debut runs are usually competent and better runners can place and win.
  • He has made a slow start to 2005 and had only three poor runners plus an inexperienced fourth placer.. One was heavily backed on debut at Redcar and never looked capable of placing.
  • Trainer used the race to introduce a 90+ rated 2yo in 2003, he ran poorly.
  • In summary a solid pedigree and the sire is a positive. Ought to be a good physical type given the price. Trainer has not had his debut runners in good form so far but we are getting towards the period when he ought to be running his better 2yos. In 2004 one of his two debut winners was for this owner.  Profile [65]
  • May 25th: Ripon
    6f Maiden
  • 28/1 on debut in a 17 runner maiden on GF. Field split into two groups and he went to the far rail with seven others. His group was around 2L down on the stands' side group at halfway but the winner went off the front of his group and went over to the far side in the last furlong to win.
  • He was held up in his group and 4L off the leader of that group at halfway. Made progress from 2F out and kept on to be first home on his side in fourth (with the winner having cross over).  Estimate [61]
  • Trainer has made a moderate start to 2003 and his run was one of the first signs of better form. Overall form on debut not strong but should show good improvement. Profile [72]
  • June 14th: York
    6f Group 2
  • 8/11f at Ripon in a moderate race and won comfortably but made to work a little for it by the filly High Meadow Girl. Set his own pace ont he rail. Estimate [77]
