June 11th: Leicester
6f Maiden Fillies' |
Bred by Darley and owned by Ahmed Al Maktoum who also has Farasha in the
race.
By second season sire who made a good start with his 2yos in 2004. However,
they were not a precocious group and showed better form for 7f and the
second half of the season. He only had two uncompetitive runners over 5f
and the first win (6f) was not until June 23rd.
He has had three uncompetitive runners over 5-6f before this one.
Dam a 7f 2yo winner and a Group 2 middle distance winner later. Her previous
British 2yo runner won a Beverley maiden STO and then ran in better class
race without being able to win.
Sixth debut of the season for the trainer.
He is notable as a 'Show FTO or nothing' type of trainer. He usually has
his debut runners fit, professional and ready to perform to a high level
within their ability and if they do not place, then they are probably moderate.
In 2003 & 2004 his first runner of the season was a winner (15/8f &
5/1). His first five debuts in the last two years have produced 2 wins
and 4 places from the ten 2yos. None of the four that were unplaced won
that season.
The first five runners in 2005 have produced one good FTO winner and a
minor place in a weak race.
In summary a hih class pedigree but not a particularly precocious one and
her 'class' would have to help her through to compete at 6f this early.
