June 4th: Haydock
5f Maiden |
Made a solid price at the Doncaster St Leger sales.
Reviewed at the sales and rated 77. Above average size and build and a
likeable, slightly lengthy and neat sire type. Ok for 70s ratings in early
to mid season.
Sire has good record with 2yos and regularly gets examples of precocious
5f winners. He has made a moderate start to 2005 with only one 5f winner.
Dam was a 60s rated 7f 3yo winner after missing her 2yo season. Her first
foal made a similar price at the sales and developed into an average 6f
nursery winner and sold for a higher price at the Horses In Training sales.
Good trainer does not target FTO wins and normal debuts rate between 50
to 64 for average to useful winners. The debuts overall in 2005 have been
up to the usual standard with the later winners so far rating close to
50 or above.
He has had one surprise FTO winner (drifted from 10/1 to 20/1) who fits
the description of being above average and placed in the Hilary Needler
STO. He has also had a targeted winner in a moderate race that unusually
started favourite. He said in interview that he (Amadeus Wolf) would run
at Royal Ascot.
In summary a good profile to be an average maiden winner over 5-6f but
not obviously useful+. Estimate [63]
