Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
May 1st: Newmarket
5f Maiden
  • Made high price at Tattersalls part 1 sales.
  • By sire with a very good and consistent record with 2yos. Gets early, precocious sprinters and good record with debut runners. Solid percentage of useful+ 2yos. Notable for runners having better record on GF+ going.
  • Sire has had poor runs so far in 2005 possibly because of the generally softer going. He had his first winner two days ago on faster ground at Redcar.
  • Dam has a mixed pedigree and is related to two better class German runners. She has produced a minor winner in Greece.
  • Good trainer that supports 2yo racing. His debut runners tend to be competent and the FTO wins come along with better runners who can win on better ability. However, he tends to choose his earliest debut runners well and most are competitive to place and win if they are useful+.
  • He has had three runners in 2005 two of which were uncompetitive on debut and a free running type won a moderate to average race.
  • In summary a good pedigree with doubts about the dam allayed by the sales price suggesting a good type. The trainer runs a variety of types at the course(s) on debut and SP can be a variable indicator of performance. This one likely to be ready to compete well within his ability aided by the sire's precociousness.  Profile [73]
  • May 1st: Newmarket
    Post Race
  • Touched 3/1 from 11/4 before strong support brought him in to 5/2 as second favourite. The trainer's early debut runs in 2005 have been mixed but in general have not been as ready and competitive as usual and his run here was similar.
  • Medium size but with a heavy build. Slightly short but above average length and a mix of the better aspects of his sire's two main types. Drawn on the rail and broke ok but the jockey wanted to settle him and he was midfield on the rail. He ran somewhat freely behind the solid, but not strong, pace and the jockey held him up to halfway. Around 3 lengths off the leader at halfway and quickened relatively easily as the pace increased from 2f out (did it on being allowed to his to pull forward rather than needing to be 'asked'). Made a little ground on the leaders to 1f out but then stalled and slightly faded in the last uphill furlong. Not untypical of his trainer's debuts in 2005 in lacking the final 'edge'.
  • A solid debut against stiff oppositions and promising high class form over 5f when allowed to use his pace. Estimate [68]
  • May 14th: Newbury
    6f Maiden
  • Steps up to 6f after a solid debut at 5f in a tough race and fading late on. The trainer's debuts so far in 2005 have lacked some readiness and have improved more than average STO. Profile [82]
