Lingfield 5f (AW)
Conditions Race (D1) |
Relatively expensive purchase for DSL sales.
By an underused sire who has a solid record in producing competitive, sprint
2yos, some useful or better. Ok to produce early 5f runners.
Dam had modest sprint form and has produced modest sprinters to the same
sire. This one cost more at sales.
Reviewed at sales and bigger and heavier type accounting for the sales
price. However, slightly shorter and lengthier than sire's better precocious
types and not convincing as a 5f sprinter (possibly more in the Space Shuttle
mould). Rated 71 at sales and likely winner in the 2005 season.
Trainer particularly likes the sire.
Trainer targets 2yo racing and has a group ready early. These will be a
mix of abilities. The moderate runners will be close to their best on debut.
The best runner(s) are targeted for debut wins, usually at Nottingham.
Trainer has entered 4 probably to ensure at least one runner.
In summary likely to be able to rate 70+ in the season but doubts over
whether this fast 5f is ideal. But, if professional, has prospects to run
to around 56+ on debut and that could be competitive for a place. Profile

Did not run in the Lingfield race either because not declared or balloted
out. The trainer had one runner from the four entries and that one won
well at 8/1 5th favourite.
The trainer has two entries here. He has had one moderate runner in the
race in the period 2002-4.
The debut win by Phantom Whisper at Lingfield suggests the trainer has
his string well forward in 2005 and will know how the two entries here
compare to that winner.
Given the price and rating at sales, the sire and the trainer's good start
inclined to increase the profile rating. Profile [64]

Probably second fittest in the group. Tall and carries well but slightly
narrow and lacks a bit of build. His length suggest he will be better at
6f and he shows good range with movement in front. Should be able to rate
85-90 over 6f early to mid-season but doubt that he is superior and will
need to muscle up well to progress from mid season. Paddock Rating 80.
Performed above profile and confirmed the good view formed of him at the
DSL sales. He is a bigger and better type than Phantom Whisper who won
for the trainer last week on debut and was fitter than that runner.
He fits the profile of a useful+ type that the trainer will try to target
an early season Debut win with. Estimate [78]
