DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
June 17th: Ayr
6f Maiden
&
June 23rd: Hamilton
6f Maiden
  • Made a lowish to middling price at the Doncaster St Leger sales and above average for the sire.
  • The sire has a moderate pedigree and none of his siblings have rated over 70 and his latest half-brother sold for 1.5k gns at the 2004 sales. He has had 5 previous debuts over 5-6f with two minor wins and two places.
  • Dam has a sprint pedigree and won a seller at 3yo and was bought for 7.7k gns.
  • Trainer now in third season after regaining his licence. Had a good season in 2003 and gained an unwarranted reputation as a trainer who targets strong debut runs. In general only the best 2yo(s) in each season win.
  • FTO SP is not a strong indicator of likely performance except for obvious 'punts' (like Oh Dara at Catterick in 2004).
  • Trainer has had a 12/1 debut winner in 2005 with a runner that outclassed a moderate group on a slow time on heavyish ground. His other debut runners have been unplaced
  • Ayr performance - 33/1. Broke slowly and more than 4L behind after the first furlong. Dropped further back to 6L back at halfway. Made ok progress into midfield by 2.5f out and the jockey then quiet in tha lats 2f. Estimate [44]
  • Hamilton performance - 25/1. Again lost ground at the start and crossed behind the field to the rail after losing 2L on the pick up phase. Showed some inexperience. Again more than 6L behind an average pace at halfway in the dip. Plugged on late into the faders from the front rank and midfield although never involved in the 'race'. Estimate [47]
  • June 29th: Catterick
    7f Maiden
  • Steps up to 7f and his 3rd run in 12 days. Has shown minor promise is getting back into the midfield group in both previous runs but has been inexperienced and losy ground both times. Although up in distance it is on a faster track.  Profile [53]
