Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
May 31st: Leicester
5f Maiden Fillies'
  • Made a good price as a foal.
  • Third season sire made excellent start in 2003 with 2yos with a lot of winners and plenty of quality. 2004 was a real step back  with less runners and just 7 average to moderate winners. 2005 likely to be closer to 2004 than 2003.
  • Sire ok for 5f and winners tend to be from May onwards but with a poor debut win record.
  • He had his first winner of the season 8 days ago in a fillies' race where he had three of the better runners and he got the first & second.
  • Dam has US pedigree and was placed over 8-10f there. Here two previous foals have not been winners.
  • Good, reliable trainer targets a maiden win with 2yos in the first three runs. The better types will then run in conditions+ races and a few in nurseries.
  • He does not target strong debut runs and the FTO wins tend to come along with the best 2yos. Consider in 2003 that 7 of his first 10 2yos runners won on debut. This wasn't a 'plan' as such but a year when he had a lot of good 2yos. Six of those 7 have rated over 90 in their careers.
  • The debut wins tend to come in the period May to June and are often in the North or Midlands. This is related to the fact that his earliest debuts each season are a mix of his best and most precocious 2yos, sprinkled with a few duff ones (often owner breds). The best ones win on debut in this period
  • He has had three 2yos (all fillies) run so far with two winning on debut at 4/1 at Haydock & Nottingham. The other debut was the fittest 2yo B2yoR has seen this season but ran poorly from a bad draw at Windsor at 20/1. One of the winners was a filly by Fasliyev.
  • In summary the trainer seems to be identifying his early season debuts carefully and they are fit enough to compete well FTO. So long as she does not drift in the market (or open at a long SP and stay there) she ought to be a solid type.  Profile [69]
  • June 24th: Newmarket
    6f Maiden Fillies'
  • 4/1 at Leicester and no vibes that a strong debut was expected. Travelled ok with an average pace at halfway but no response 1f out as the winner went clear.  Estimate [60]
  • The trainer's better types have won on debut so far in 2005. The STO runners have not shown notable improvement.  Profile [68]
