Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
May 14th: Newbury
6f Maiden
  • Made a high price at the Tattersalls part 2 sales and notably good for the sire.
  • Reviewed at the sales and rated only 66 and looked expensive. Notably small and just an average build. Similar type to Paradise Isle out of the same dam but just lacking her very good geometry.
  • Sire has average 2yo record but can get early 6f runners and winners tend to be competitive on debut. He has had a minor STO winner in 2005.
  • Older dam was a just above average 6f 2yo winner. She has produced a variety of winners at 2yo with the best being of a similar quality to herself. This is the most expensive of her 10 foals.
  • Second 2yo runner of the season for a major trainer. He does not target debut wins and those he gets are usually with superior types and more likely later in the season. He had his first runner two days ago who was backed to 9/2 but showed some inexperience on soft ground and finished 4th.
  • In summary looked just an average type at the sales although likely to be a precocious 2yo type.  Profile [66]
  • June 7th: Redcar
    6f Maiden
  • 12/1 5th favourite at Newbury on notably firm ground in a race here the odds-on favourite failed. The division was run in a slower time and a 33/1 runner finished 2nd. Lost a little ground at the start and looked slightly inexperienced. More than 4L off the solid pace at halfway and a little progress afterwards relative to the faders. 7th of 10. Trainer won the second division with a supported newcomer. Estimate [39]
  • Difficult to spot which of the trainer's debuts will step forward to compete well second time. So far he has run 10 on debut with 1 winning and 9 finishing unplaced.
  • Three of the unplaced debuts have run STO with two wins and one unplaced. The wins have been at 11/4 (backed to 4/1 on debut), and 8/1 (9/1 on debut). The unplaced runner was at 7/2 (5/1 debut).
  • Looking at the debut ratings the two STO winners rated 56 & 57 FTO. The unplaced runner rated 47. The two winners improved by 12-18lb STO.
  • The two STO winners have been at lesser courses (Lingfield & Doncaster) and the unplaced runner at Goodwood.
  • This one rated only 39 FTO and was at a longer SP. He drops to a minor course and suggests he's just an average type. The sales review suggested he was a 65-75 rater. In summary he will need to improve more than 18lb to win here.  Profile [62]
