Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
June 10th: Sandown
7f Maiden
  • Made a solid price at the Goffs sales in Ireland but a decrease from his foal level in the US.
  • First runner for the first season sire. He won two Group 1 races over 6f at 2yo.
  • Dam ran placed on turf in the US and had not had a runner from four previous foals by the time this one sold.
  • Major 2yo trainer does not target strong debuts and FTO wins come along with the useful 2yos. He has only had a single FTO win and 12 places from 38 debuts to date (partly indicating the lack of some quality 2yos).
  • The trainer introduced a number of useful 2yos in this period in 2004 but has not shown that trait so far in 2005 (perhaps he doesn't have them?)
  • He runs two in the race with this the likely first string with R Hughes riding. However, the second string has the more competitive P Dobbs riding and has had a prior run so no surprise to see them finish the 'wrong' way round.

  • June 18th: Newmarket
    7f Maiden
  • 40/1 at Sandown and finished 5th in a very muddling race and ought to have been at least second. Wide draw and settled behind midfield behind an average pace. Driven along around the bend and 6L off the lead on the turn into the uphill straight. Race quickened from 2.5f out and therefore had a number of slow 7f types trying to speed up and not much happening. He started to made good progress inside 2f out and closing quickly (possibly as the leaders stalled) inside the final furlong. Went for gap on the rail and got cut off back and dropped back to 5th when would have challenged the winner with a clear run.  Estimate [61]
  • First test of the Sandown form. That race looked moderate form and visually unusual (how hid he and Right Again come to be closing so quickly after being driven along early?). Likely to be a shorter SP because he's been touted as 'unlucky' but the actual form is moderate. Profile [72]
