Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
April 23rd: Haydock
5f Maiden Fillies'
  • Sold for solid price at Goffs sales.
  • By second season sire that made a very good start with his first 2yos in 2004. However he had no winner at 5f and no win before June 26.
  • Sire has had a 5f winner already in 2005 for the trainer who gets 5f winners with any pedigree - M Channon. This runner is with another  trainer notable for trying all kinds of pedigrees over 5f.
  • Dam was well related but a moderate runner. She has an interesting record at stud having produced two maidens and a banded level 12f winner. However, one of the maidens was placed in a 2yo Group 1 race in Ireland and finished second 7 times at 2yo rating over 100. The other maiden cost around 50k gns.
  • Major trainer does not target FTO wins and they tend to come along with better types. He has made a slow start to 2005 but has now had two winners and the recent debuts have been solid while lacking the final 'edge'.
  • In summary an interesting pedigree which has negatives but capable of producing a useful+ 2yo. The fact she runs over 5f when 6f+ may well be better would suggest she has some ability. Should be competent on debut but not 'wound up'.  Profile [63]
  • April 23rd: Haydock
    Post Race
  • Steady at 7/1 third favourite in a group with only the favourite supported. Tracked the pace by just over a length at halfway, got slightly outpaced after 2f out and then faded late to a modest 5th. An acceptable debut for an average winner for the trainer but did not look a real 5f type in line with her 6f+ pedigree Estimate [47]
  • May 1st: Salisbury
    5f Fillies' Condition
  • Showed just an acceptable debut at Haydock without looking better than an average maiden winner and not obviously a real 5f type.
  • The trainer has not had an early winning filly of the type he targets this race with. He had his first winning filly 6 days ago in a weak race. This filly is more in the mould of the fillies he ran in 2004.
  • Trainer's runners tend to show close to their best form in their first two runs but this is a relatively short break to the STO run. Should improve but from a lowish debut level. Receives 3lb from the previous winner.  Profile [64 + 3 = 67]
