Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
May 7th: Newmarket
5f Maiden Fillies'
  • Made a solid to good price at the Tattersalls part 2 sales.
  • Reviewed at the sales and rated 74 at the sales and with a well above average chance of being a competitive 2yo. She was medium size and just above average build. In proportion and a classic medium, early season, sprinter.
  • First season sire made good impression at sales and yearlings sold well. B2yoR reviewed 29 of his yearlings and they were a good group and he should have a good 2005.
  • Sire won over 7f at 2yo but reverted to a top class sprinter at 3yo.
  • Sire has had two runners in 2005. One ran poorly on debut before showing good form STO and the other ran a good debut third on soft ground.
  • Dam has a mixed pedigree and showed only placed for. She has not produced a 2yo winner and only on 4yo winner overall.
  • Major trainer does not target FTO wins and they tend to come along with better types. He has made a slow start to 2005 but has now had four winners and the recent debuts have been solid while lacking the final 'edge'. He has had one FTO winner in a weak Windsor race.
  • Overall the trainer tends to run average or better types at the course, especially in the first half of the season (being primarily a 2yo trainer his debuts later in the season - anywhere - tend to be less competent 2yos. If they had precocious 2yo ability he'd have identified it a lot earlier and used it).
  • In summary the sire is going to have to provide the 5f zip and a touch of better ability. However, the sales price and the sales review suggest he went a fair way to managing it. The trainer's debuts at Newmarket tend to be ok types although, as usual, only the best tend to win.  Profile [67]
  • May 7th: Newmarket
    Post Race
  • 9/1 to 10/1. Broke ok and settled in midfield and ran slightly freely for the first 2f and had to be held up. Slightly outpaced when the race quickened from inside 2f and slightly inexperienced. Kept on third best one into stride and gaining at the finish. A solid debut and promising that she can reach 70+ level. Smallish to medium size but solid build. Estimate [57]
  • May 16th: Windsor
    5f Maiden Fillies'
  • Trainer's runners tend to 'peak' STO and she made a solid debut without looking better than average. Got a little outpaced on debut in a '2f sprint' of a race but likely to be a better pace in this race which should suit her.
  • Just an ok draw in 8 but should be able to get towards front rank in this mixed ability race. Profile [74]
  • May 30th: Sandown
    5f Maiden Fillies'
  • Paddock reviewed at Windsor and not as taking as she was at the sales. Gone a little light and leggy and needed to muscle up and strengthen. Needed to be fitter. Rating 70. 9/2 2nd favourite in an average group where the first five home were in place after 1f. Led for the first furlong before allowing Abbielou to go on and 1L behind her at halfway. Challenged for lead again inside 2f out but outpaced by two others who had travelled close behind and finished third.  Estimate [70]
  • The form of the Windsor race is mixed with the fourth beaten since and the 7th has won an average maiden. She looked to need time to develop to her best.
  • Trainer runs two in the race and she appears to be the first string on jockeys (R Moore rather than K Fallon).
  • Has a similar profile to Our Gamble who won a moderate edition of this race for the trainer in 2003 on 3TO. Minor improvement.  Profile [74]
  • June 15th: York
    5f Group 2 Fillies'
  • Backed to 5/2 at Sandown and raced near the rail which was a notably advantage. Set a solid pace and a half length clear at halfway. Made a n effort 2f out but outpaced by the winner and kept on and two newcomers closing on her in the last furlong. A similar run to her previous efforts.  Estimate [70]
  • Trainer's only runner and probably and indication of his lack of useful+ sprint 2yos.  Profile [75]
