May 30th: Sandown
5f Maiden Fillies' |
Made a solid price at the Goffs sales.
Sire gets wins at all distances including 5f. Has had only one 5f winner
before May but that was with a runner with this trainer. Debut win have
tended to come after March.
Trainer likes the sire and has had six useful 2yos by him (Cedarberg, Mac
Love, Nights Cross, Millbag, Mokabra & Capable Guest). Each of these
runners were beaten on debut and only Mokabra & Millbag (in later season)
won STO.
Dam a 7f winner at 3yo.
Trainer does not target FTO wins and those that win on debut are normally
his best runners (or targeted debuts for specific owners).
He has had 7 FTO wins from 28 runs in 2005 and above his usual rate although
most of those fit the model of being better class 2yos running for one
of the specific owners.
In summary just about an ok pedigree for 5f and ought to be readier than
a trainer average debut. Profile [69]

July 8th: Lingfield AW
6f Maiden Fillies' |
14/1 on debut and vibes were that she was ordinary. More than 5L behind
an average pace after 1f and 4L at halfway. Slight progress as the race
quickened then faded int he last uphill furlong. Estimate [58]
June 30th 4th of 19 in a moderate to average Newbury 6f fillies'
maiden. Trainer ran three and she was the middle one at 18/1 although the
trainer won the race with a 50/1 runner who he sold on and finished 4th
in the Cherry Hinton this week. Race was messy with a strong pace stretching
the field out and the field also spread across the track. She sat well
off the pace and 7L behind after 1f and 5L behind the 2nd (with a tearaway
leader 6l+ ahead) at halfway. Plugged on in the last 2f past faders to
a remote 4th. Estimate [29]
Poor draw in 12 and has not suggested she has the tactical speed for a
6f race here. Profile [57]
