April 28th: Redcar
5f Auction |
Not sold but attracted solid bids for cheaper Doncaster sales. The only
penalised filly (3lb) in this auction race.
By a second season sire that made a good start with 2yos notable for good
quality although an average number of winners. Got 5f winners but from
May onwards.
Dam is well related and has mixed pedigree. Quite a comedown to end up
with yearlings selling at DOC sales. She has not produced a winner on the
flat from 4 previous foals.
Trainer does not target FTO wins and early debuts have not been competitive.
His three debuts in 2005 have been similar although the delayed debut of
Getbuzzin was backed in a muddling race.
The trainer has had only two runners at the course in each of his first
two seasons 2003-4. In 2003 Firebelly won on a market supported debut and
Benbaun won on 6TO. In 2004 Knock Bridge was 4th on debut in May and Wigwam
Willie 2nd at 5/2 on 3TO. He declared Getbuzzin for the abandoned meeting
here in March and that runner has been his most competitive debut runner
in 2005.
In summary a difficult pedigree to assess with the dam looking like a 'dead
end' and not carrying the better genes of her relations. The trainer does
not have a good FTO record although can get them with useful types. His
record at Redcar suggests that he chooses the runners sent here with care
(a good idea since it's a long way from home) so she might be 'readier'
than average. Profile [56 + 2 =58]
