DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
May 20th: Goodwood
6f Maiden Fillies
  • Made a middling price at the Doncaster St Leger sales.
  • By second season sire that made a very good impression in 2004 with a good set of sprint 2yos, including early winners. Ok for 6f but a slightly better record in 2004 at 5f. He has had two 5f winners already in 2005.
  • Dam is a well related 10f winner in France. She has produced one minor winner (trained by R Hannon) and one better placed runner.
  • Major trainer does not target FTO wins and they tend to come along with better types. He has made a slow start to 2005 but has now had four winners and the recent debuts have been solid while lacking the final 'edge'.
  • He has had one FTO winner in a weak Windsor race from 23 debuts so far with another 10 placed. In the last three years he has debuted some better fillies from the period mid-May to early June and a number have won. In 2003 Enford Princess won this race on debut and in 2004 both Group winner Jewel In The Sand and useful Dont Tell Mum won on debut in this period.
  • The trainer debuts three fillies in the two 6f Fillies' maidens today.  He runs two in this maiden and R Hughes rides this one with R Moore on the other.  Profile [72]
  • June 8th: Newbury
    6f Fillies' Auction
  • 3/1 favourite at Goodwood in spite of her trainer's FTO record in 2005 and the 'vibes' were that she was useful. Race on softer ground in a slowish time and some fillies did not act on the ground and/or were inexperienced. Looked one of the biggest in the group and notably deep and powerful in front. Broke well and ran slightly freely early and held up behind a solid pace set by moderate fillies. 4L off the leaders at halfway and slightly hampered inside 2F out when looking for a gap to progress through as the leaders faded back onto her. Went for the same gap as High Heel Sneakers and lost out. Switched left to the rail and some progress but jockey accepted 3rd. Estimate [56]
  • A solid debut by trainer standards this year and not hard pressed and with scope to improve. Trainer runs 4 in the race and she appears to be the first string.  Profile [72 + 3 = 75]
