Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
May 3rd: Bath
5f Maiden
  • Made reasonable price at the Tattersalls part 2 sales.
  • Rated 65 at the sales. He was notably small (probably sire typical) and average build. He was neat and ready type but looked likely to be limited by his size.
  • By First Season Sire who made early 5f debut as a 2yo and developed through the season at 6f. Made moderate to average impression at sales.
  • B2yoR rated 9 of the sire's yearlings and notable for smaller, slightly light build types. None were rated over 70 including several which cost much more than this one.
  • Sire has had three poor to moderate runners so far plus one expensive runner bred by the same stud as this one who showed a little more promise on debut.
  • Dam was a later season debut and 5f winner while a full sister was second on debut and only had to rate in the 80s to win a June Listed 5f race.
  • The trainer has had three debut runners in 2005 with the better types finishing a good 3rd at 66/1 (giving weight to the first two) and second at 16/1. This is very similar to his 2004 debut record when he only ran his 2yos when they (presumably) had been assessed and were ready to compete to a high level within their ability.
  • In summary an all speed and 2yo pedigree. Lacked size and looked a ready type at the sales. Runs for a small trainer who has given very strong evidence that debuts of any runner with ability will be competent and to a competitive level.  Profile [62]
  • May 16th: Bath
    5f Novice
  • 16/1 on debut and finished fourth in a 'mess' of a race on very soft ground. It was the slowest 5f race at the course for some years and appeared to be partly draw affected with the centre of the course a slight advantage. Broke slowly from stall 1 and lost three lengths in a race with a solid pace for the conditions. Ran centre course to stands' side and well behind at halfway. Made progress after halfway as the leaders faded and finished reasonably close fourth but did not 'finish' but plugging on into exhausted runners.  Estimate [47]
  • His debut form can not be read literally and told us little about him other than the mild positive that he was going forward at the finish in a very slow race. The second from that race finished 2nd NTO showing normal trainer improvement. The third (66/1 and made pace) was well beaten over 6f yesterday. The winner who did well to survive from the front rank on stands' side runs in a Conditions race today.
  • Difficult to place but assume slight improvement from original profile.  Profile [66 + 2 = 68]
  • June 4th: Chepstow
    6f Auction
  • 4/1 at Bath and lost 2L at the start and more than 4L behind a solid pace at halfway. Made an effort 2f out and got within 2L of the lead and then faded a little.  Estimate [63]
  • Steps up to 6f for a trainer who has had his sprinters very fit and forward (two Listed runners this week). Minor improvement if he makes a good break.  Profile [67 + 2 = 69]
