5f Maiden |
Made high price at the Tattersalls part 1 sales. However, less than the
best of the siblings for a dam where the sales price has been a fair indicator
of ability.
Good sire has a variable but average record overall with 2yos but with
good quality among the winners. Has a better record from 6-7 and only occasional
5f wins.
Good trainer has a well above average record with 2yos. He looks to win
a maiden in the first two runs and then step the better 2yos up to conditions
races or higher. He assesses 2yos at home and debut runs are usually competent
and places are common and the better 2yos an win on debut.
Trainer has had two debut runs in 2005 with one a solid second after finding
slight trouble and finishing well (won STO) and the other well beaten (and
probably a moderate type).
In summary a pedigree that should produce a good sprint 2yo and probably
above average. The dam adds some 5f speed and precocity to support the
sire. The three siblings placed third on debuts (April 1st to June 13th
range). The trainer has shown signs that he gets his 2yos less wound up
for earlier season debuts in recent seasons and debut wins tend to come
later in the year. May well be the best 2yo in the race but will need to
be quite 'ready' to win. Market support tends to be more significant with
this trainer. Profile [70]

Drifted to 5/1 on debut in a race with a good odds-on favourite. Broke
slowly and looked a little inexperienced overall. Driven in midfield and
3L+ off the pace at halfway. Made progress to a moderate 3rd and then a
slight fade. Estimate [59]
Steps up to 6f after a moderate debut and looking short of pace. Trainer's
debuts in 2005 have been moderate overall but the better type improved
STO. This one looked just average. Profile [70]

2/1 volunteer favourite here over 6f LTO with no other runner strongly
supported. Large field split into two groups and he showed better professionalism
than his debut. Led the stands' side group by a length at halfway and two
lengths ahead of the far side. Headed by a runner from his group 1f out
and slightly faded. Also caught by the winner who ran the far side but
came over to the stands' side in the last furlong. Estimate [68]
Drops back to 5f here after appearing not to stay 6f fully here LTO. Overall
form is just average and probably little improvement today. Profile
