Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
April 18: Windsor
5f Maiden
  • Made lowish price at Tattersalls part 2 sales.
  • Reviewed at the sales and medium size but lighter build especially behind. Lengthy and not athletic with that length. Also a nervous type.
  • Second season sire made ok start in 2004 with 13 winners but short on quality. Ok for 5f but runners tended to be better from mid-season onwards.
  • Dam made reasonable price at the sales but was a poor runner. She has not produced a runner with here previous two foals.
  • Trainer has only a few 2yos and has not had a 2yo winner recently. Debuts are normally well below final rating and this is an unusually early debut.
  • In summary not an obviously 5f pedigree and looked a limited type at the sales. Likely to be below his best on debut.  Profile [44]
  • April 18: Windsor
    Post Race
  • Paddock rating 68 and a slight increase from sales. A good size but a taller, lengthier, narrow and slightly leggy type. Not the real build of a sprinter. Good quality with the build he has.
  • Did not look a 5f speed type on set up. Lost ground with a slow start but ran the advantageous stands' rail. Made ground in the last furlong as other runners stalled which perhaps made his finish look better but still a good effort this early over 5f for a horse that needs further. 33/1 on debut.  Estimate [62]
  • May 3rd: Bath
    5f Maiden
  • Made a good debut over 5f for a horse with his set-up. However he did not show 5f pace and got into third with a strongish finish through stalled runners after getting behind (4 lengths and more) at halfway. Had the advantage of running the rail. The form of that race looks ok in the context of this race with the winner having won since. The 6th in that race who ran wide on the course won a similar race here last week on soft.
  • This uphill 5f may suit him better than Windsor but he would be vulnerable to nipper types on faster ground.  Profile [67]
  • May 16th: Windsor
    5f Conditions
  • 5/2 second favourite at Bath and won a mess of a race. The ground was very soft and the race was run in the slowest 5f time at the course for years. The race was also probably draw affected with the stands' side a slight disadvantage compared to centre track. 3L behind the leader on the stands' rail at halfway and plugged on from there to hold on from the closers plus the leader in the centre of the course. Put in a staying performance and not a 5f test.  Estimate [53]
  • Has kept on well in both his races but has not proved fast ground 5f pace. Does not look a full 5f sprinter on review. Should improve to above debut level.  Profile [71]
  • May 16th: Windsor
    Post Race
  • Paddock rating 73. Rating upgraded because he's still developing his muscle to go with his big frame. Still looks too narrow & lengthy to be a real 5f type.
  • 7/1 third favourite. Ran a very similar race to his debut here and finished in roughly the same position in relation to Green Park. Has not looked a natural 5f type and his win LTO was a staying performance in a very slow time. Broke slightly awkwardly and again got behind early despite just an average pace. More than 4 lengths off the pace at halfway and hard driven. In fourth and more than 3 lengths off leader Green Park entering the final furlong. Kept on well in the last half furlong and gaining on the leader and would probably have won at 5.5f. Needs 6f.  Estimate [73]
  • June 4th: Epsom
    6f Listed
  • Steps up to 6f which is what he has always looked to need. However, he is on a fast, downhill, course in a race with at least 2 or 3 front runners. Given how he has been left behind on a flat track by just solid pacesetting it's not hard to see him getting outpaced here. Likely to be keeping on very strongly at the finish. In this race the stronger finishers tend to find at least one of the prominent runners to tough to catch.  Profile [80]
