DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
May 23rd: Leicester
6f Maiden
  • Made a high price at the Keeneland September sales.
  • Sire has had an increased number of 2yos runners in 2003-4 (possibly due to the success of Fantastic Light). He gets winners at all distances. His only previous runner in 2005 won a tough maiden FTO over 5f.
  • Dam only placed at 3yo in the US but is very well related to superior sprinters.
  • First runner of the season for the trainer after Goodwood declared 2yo did not go because the meeting was abandoned. He is notable as a 'Show FTO or nothing' type of trainer. He usually has his debut runners fit, professional and ready to perform to a high level within their ability and if they do not place, then they are probably moderate.
  • In 2003 & 2004 his first runner of the season was a winner (15/8f & 5/1). His first five debuts in the last two years have produced 2 wins and 4 places from the ten 2yos. None of the four that were unplaced won that season.
  • The owner runs two in this race - both by Rahy and expensive Keeneland buys. The retained jockey rides Tawaassol and W Supple rides this one.
  • In summary a good pedigree and fine for 6f. Trainer has his 2yos ready FTO. The fact that R. Hills rides the other suggests this one less good but he might be more forward.  Profile [72]
  • June 3rd: Goodwood
    6f Maiden
  • Paddock reviewed at Leicester, rated 74. Above average size and just above average build, especially in front. Looked strong but needed to tighten up and not particularly fit. Lengthy and a little short so not convincing overall and possible just an average maiden type.
  • Steady at 7/1 in a market with nothing strongly supported. Slightly slow start then improved to midfield before a bad fade in the last 2f to 13th.  Estimate [1]
  •  Trainer's runners which don't show well on debut tend to be moderate. He runs here quite quickly afterwards suggesting there was nothing major wrong at Leicester (breathing issue?). Trainer runs two with stable jockey on Mulaqat for Ahmed Al Maktoum & R Hills riding this one. Difficult to place  Profile [60]
