Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
April 16th: Nottingham
5f Maiden
  • Made low price at the cheaper Doncaster sales.
  • Reviewed at the sales and rated 57 at the sales with a well below average chance of being a competitive 2yo at a reasonable level. He was small with medium build and was still physically immature. Not particularly athletic.
  • Sire has variable record with 2yos and does get occasional 5f winners. However the wins tend to come form May onwards.
  • Dam had moderate speed pedigree and was cheap at the sales. However she did better than that as an average sprint 2yo winner. Has produced a moderate 2yo that sold for a similar price.
  • New trainer has taken out a licence since his father retired in February. His father now works as his assistant. He has had two runners so far in 2005 and both have been backed but both had run poorly.
  • In summary likely to be a very minor sprint winner at best and unlikely to be ready here on trainer's efforts so far.  Profile [44]
  • April 16th: Nottingham
    Post Race
  • Opened 14/1 and finished at 16/1. Lost ground at the start (as have other trainer debuts in the season) and crossed behind the field to run the stands' rail (possible advantage?). He pulled quite hard and running into the back of others until he settled before halfway. Went on to chase the winner (on STO) and although easily held kept on well enough.
  • A muddling race with the other pacemakers fading and drifting left away from the rail. The time was slow.  Estimate [62]
  • April 28th: Southwell
    5f Auction
  • Appeared to run a race of good promise on debut and clear of the others in chasing home the experienced winner. The overall form level does not look high and the third has been well beaten since in a similar race.
  • He appeared to have muscled up well on TV evidence of Nottingham and his performance was at odds with his sales appearance and price. Has he improved a lot from the sales or was the form of the Nottingham race poor? The sensible option is to accept a little of both explanations. He's probably not as good as the 'promise' at Nottingham suggested but he has developed from what he was at the sales.
  • He will be the first STO runner for his new trainer.
  • Receives 2lb from the topweight.  Profile [64 + 2  = 66]
  • May 4th: Chester
    5f Maiden
  • Non runner at Southwell and runs here after a 7 day break and stays on turf.
  • Has a poor draw in 14 of 16 and L Dettori riding. Profile [64]
  • May 4th: Chester
    Post Race
  • Received some each-way support as second favourite to get back to 6/1 after drifting to 7/1 from 11/2. Bad draw in 14 of 16 and made that problem worse with a slow start that lost two lengths or more. 8 lengths off the too strong pace after 1 furlong and at least 10 lengths back at halfway. Made good progress with and through the moderate types as the race closed up from 2f out as the pace folded. Stalled in the last 1/2 furlong as effort told. Performed slightly below expectations but a solid run.
  • Worth comparing him to the 2nd and 4th who are probably 55-64 types at very best - although he made a lot of ground overall he only made 2-3 lengths compared to these two at most. Jury still out on the exact form level he showed at Nottingham. Estimate [58]
  • May 30th: Sandown
    5f Listed
  • His run at Chester looks a little better with the2nd winning an average maiden NTO and the 10th winning an auction race at 100/1. Slightly upgrade rating.  Profile [70]
  • May 30th: Sandown
    Post Race
  • Paddock reviewed at Sandown. Rated in the 50s at the sales but has improved his muscle and although still small is a neat little sprinter with above average build, ok length, depth in front and power. Rating uprated and ok to rate just over 70.
  • 16/1 and raced 6 wide off the rail at a meeting where the stands' rail proved an advantage. No runner made notable progress int he cehtre course inthis race and a number, inclduing the favourite ran poorly. 4L off the leaders (on rail) at halfway, made a brief effort and no progress.
  •  Finished with the ruck in 7th. Estimate [55]
  • June 7th: Chester
    5f Maiden
  • Better than he showed at Sandown last time and ok for late 60s rating on physical review although still limited by his size. Estimate [69]
