June 29th: Catterick 5f Maiden Fillies'	Made a lowish price at the Tattersalls Ireland sales but not basement level by the trainer's current standards. Third season sire made average start with his 2yos in 2003 but had a poor season with less runners and quality in 2004. He only ever won a 6f himself and his better types in 2003 were 6f winners. He has had two 5f winners (one shown better from over 6f) and three successful over 7f in 2005. Dam has produced two smaller 2yos who have sold for similar prices. The neater of these showed 70 rated form at her best. Trainer does not target strong debuts and all FTO runs in 2005 have been poor. A better showing on debut is a pretty sure sign of a natural 2yo with some ability and a later winner. Trainer's record has been in decline for 3 seasons and this year has been even worse with a solitary seller win from 16 runners. He must have the odd minor winner still to introduce but they will be difficult to spot and unlikely to do much better than '4th' FTO. Profile [43]
