April 29th: Nottingham
5f Novice |
Retained for poor price at Tattersalls part 2 sales.
By sire imported from (probably) Canada who had very poor start with his
UK 2yos in 2004. He has had two poor seller runners so far in 2005.
Dam was German bred and a 7f winner there. She has produced four poor runners
who have rated in the 50s at best. Two of those were with the same trainer.
Dual purpose stable does not strongly target 2yo racing. He runs
mostly owner breds each season and gets occasional winners. Debut runs
tend to be competent and within 10-14lbs of final rating.
In summary a lot of negatives and should not be up to competing in this
type of race, especially on debut. Profile [35]

Post Race |
Creates a problem for setting the form level. Entirely unsupported at 100/1
but ran a race of minor promise given the presumed form level and well
above expectations. He broke slightly slowly losing a length and then showed
inexperience (as he did through the race) to lose ground and be off the
back of the group behind a solid pace. He was more than 4 lengths adrift
at halfway but plugged on ok and was gaining ground at the finish while
still not looking as if he knew what was required.
He looked a taller, narrower type in a group of sprinters and not obviously
a 5f type. His trainer's debut runs tend to be competent and within 10-14lbs
of final rating. If the form rating is in the right place then he has prospects
to be a 65-70 rated type and a possible winner in the mould of Apple Of
My Eye and Anfield Dream (from 2004). Track for solid improvement NTO.

6f Auction |
Steps up to 6f after a race of some promise for better over that distance
at 100/1 over 5f on debut. Ought to show reasonable improvement and be
competitive in the race if that original rating was corrct. Profile

June 9th: Yarmouth
6f Novice |
14/1 at Doncaster and a good draw next to the rail. Travelled reasonably
well at the front of the stands' side group for 4f but little response
as race pressed on and a fade to 7th and 4th home on his side ia race where
the first 3 finished far side. Estimate [50]
June 1st 16/1 ran in a 6f Novice here in a race with a good pace
which 'broke' most runners and the winners pulled clear from bad faders.
Again travelled ok to past halfway but no response when pressed and plugged
into the faders late. Estimate [52]
Original race 'promise' not fulfilled and has run similar races since.
Unlikely to compete with 6f types here and looks to need a drop in class
and probably 7f+. Estimate [55]
