Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
May 12th: York
6f Maiden
  • Made high price at the Doncaster St Leger sales, especially given the lack of a useful UK based runner from the dam.
  • First season sire made 6f May debut at 2yo and superior 6-7f runner. Made solid impression at the sales and yearlings sold well.
  • B2yoR rated 32 of his yearlings and they were a solid group if lacking real stars.
  • Sire has had 14 runners already with three winners, two on debut. 5 other runners have placed on debut at moderate levels.
  • Major trainer does not target FTO wins and they tend to come along with better types. He has made a slow start to 2005 but has now had four winners and the recent debuts have been solid while lacking the final 'edge'. He has had one FTO winner in a weak Windsor race.
  • Trainer has run five 2yos on debut at this meeting and all have made the first four although none have won. Four of the five have won  as 2yos with three being useful or better.
  • In summary the sales price and the trainer's choice to run here suggest a useful type at least. However, the trainer tends to be happy with promising placed debuts.  Profile [74]
  • May 19th: Goodwood
    6f Maiden
  • Steady at 16/1 at York on Soft. Looked mature, deep through with a heavy front. An active mover and rangy overall. Held up on the stands' side of the group and made progress to be just over 2L off the lead at halfway. Continue to progress for just average pressure to keep on for a good third behind the favourite and a more hard ridden opponent.  Estimate [72]
  • Runs only 7 days after debut on soft. Ought to improve but slight niggle because the trainer's strong debuts at York in the last three seasons have produced only one STO winner (by Tacitus after a two week longer break). The others have tended to get back on track 3TO+. Profile [80]
  • May 25th: Newmarket
    5f Novice
  • Goodwood meeting was abandoned and runs her 6 days later. Receives 7lb from the penalised top weight.  Profile [80 + 7 = 87]
