Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
March 27th:
Entered for
Musselburgh
5f Maiden
  • By sire who made good start as a First Season Sire in 2002 with quality sprint 2yos. Has produced winners, but of lesser quality in 2003-4 from smaller crops. Can produce early 5f winners.
  • Dam a moderate runner and not 5f type.
  • Trainer has good record with older runners but approach with 2yos difficult to assess. Overall record moderate. Earliest debuts often of mixed ability but run to competent level within their ability.
  • Trainer has two entries.
  • In summary a mixed pedigree and probably competent on debut. Profile [50]
  • March 27th:
    Entered for
    Musselburgh
    5f Maiden
    POST RACE
  • A 'surprise' second at 33/1 and was the trainer's second string by SP and jockeys.
  • However, trainer's debut runners tend to be competent and not progress and its likely he ran to expectations on debut and another hint that the overall form is moderate. Profile [54]
  • April 5th: Declared for
    Southwell AW Auction
  • The trainer has had two surprise second places in 2005. This one at 33/1 and The History Man at 14/1 at Doncaster. Both were ridden by a 3lb apprentice and both were longer SPs than the trainer's other runner in the race. The shorter priced runner in each race performed worse and was ridden by Dale Gibson who is usually his main jockey.
  • Between 2002-3 he did not have a single 2yo who placed on debut. In 2003 he managed four including a surprise 33/1 winner in a draw and pace affected race. Those four were between 20/1 to 50/1 and the three that ran again included only on that ran to a higher rating.
  • So, is this a better runner who can rate 70+ or did we see the best of him on debut? That Edinburgh race was made to look better when the weak 4th placer won at Doncaster on Saturday. Even so, the percentage call is to assume he isn't going to improve much. (B2yor should declare a bias against the trainer who has an odd approach to 2yo racing).  Profile [55]
  • May 11th: York
    5f Novice
  • 5/4 and made hard work of winning at Southwell from moderate types. Profile [55]
  • Trainer's 2yos tend not to progress from early runs. Has no penalty for his win in this Novice race.  Profile [58]
  • June 1st: Beverley
    5f Conditions
  • 16/1 at York on soft ground. Race was run with a good pace for the conditions. Tracked the leader by 1.5L at halfway then outpaced beofre plugging on to close on the leaders as they faded (both quite tired) in the last half furlong. Looked notably small even against Amber Glory.  Estimate [66]
  • Rare runner in this race for the trainer. Unlikely to show much development and has looked to lack some pace although always plugs on at the end of races. Profile [68]
  • June 18th: York
    5f Listed
  • Favourite at Beverley but had his limitations exposed. Race run on rain softened ground and with a strong pace for the conditions. Within a length of the leader (who won) at halfway but tired and faded back to the moderate newcomers. Race run in a slow time. Estimate [56]
  • Moderate form overall and lacks the physical scope to improve.  Estimate [64 + 6 = 70]
