Made good price at Tattersalls Part 2 sales.
Reviewed at sales and rated 68 with an above average chance of being competitive
as a 2yo. A classic shape and type that owner J Fretwell has (usually with
B McMahon in the past). Smallish but heavily built and strong. Deep and
wide but lacking some range so needs to be a sprinter.
First season sire made good impression at sales and yearlings sold well.
B2yoR reviewed 29 of his yearlings and they were a good group and he should
have a good 2005. Sire won over 7f at 2yo but reverted to a top class sprinter
at 3yo.
Dam was a winner in America and has produced two moderate runners so far.
Trainer used to have his own small stable but was appointed as private
trainer in owner J. Fretwell's new, purpose built stables in 2004. This
is his first 2yo runner for that owner.
When the trainer had his only stables the better 2yos used to rate around
60-65 on debut and improve 14lbs STO. Interesting to see his approach in
his new position.
In summary an interesting pedigree but unproven at present. An acceptable
type at sales with scope to develop if not obviously 50k gns worth. Trainer
has started new post so lack of information on his approach to debut. So,
a mixed story but with some strong positives mixed in. Difficult to place

A disappointment for his new trainer. Opened 16/1 and received some support
to 12/1. Slightly slow break but never got into the race and showed little.
The important owner's other trainer has shown similar runs with his 2yos.

A longer SP, although a little each-way support, on debut and a poor run.
Has the sales review and profile to be a a just over 70+ rater. Track for

Disappointing on his debut when he received each-way support from 16/1
to 12/1 and was the first runner for his trainer in his new job. Again
received support here from 16/1 to 10/1 in a market where several were
supported. Broke well and a close third after one furlong before dropping
back to 2 lengths off the contested pace at halfway. Made an effort to
move through to lead briefly as the leaders faded but was relatively easily
picked up by Zato. A much improved run and more in line with the expectations
on debut (note for trainer's methods) and with his sales review. Can develop
a little further to be the 70+ sprint winner as expected. Estimate [69]

The trainer has been quite selective with the 2yos he has run so far and
had three winners with two horses since this one last ran. Profile [72]

5/2f at Carlisle in a moderate race overall and a moderate pace producing
below expectation ratings. Tracked the pacemaker by a length at halfway
and still had a length to make with a furlong to go. Made back most of
that by the line and keeping on but the winner looked to be holding him
slightly comfortably. Other newcomers which ran wider up the straight showed
similar strong finishes. Estimate [62]
Steps up to 5.7f and that looks an advantage give that he has been keeping
on at the end of his last two races. Probably has little improvement and
slightly limited by his size. Profile [69]
