Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
April 27th: Pontefract
5f Maiden
  • Made good price at sales, the same as his full brother Sessay made two years earlier and bought by the same trainer.
  • Reviewed at the sales and rated 66 and was a similar size and build to Grandad Bill. However he was more lengthy and shorter and with minimal scope.
  • By little used sire that can get 5f 2yos.
  • Dam has visited the sire regularly and produced two 100+ rated sprinters who developed from 3yo onwards. Her latest two foals have been moderate types.
  • Trainer made his name with older sprinters and has only a few 2yos each season. The debuts tend to be 10lbs or more below the final rating and wins tend to be STO and at peak rating.
  • Trainer ran the full brother Sessay in the same race on debut and he finished a remote 3rd in a tough edition of the race.
  • In summary more likely to be the moderate to average type 2yo that the dam produces despite the sales price. Trainer's 2yos usually need the debut run to develop from. Profile [57]
  • April 27th: Pontefract
    Post Race
  • The vibes on his debut were that he was expected to run well and he opened 5/2f in a group without a runner with strong previous form. Tracked the pace easily on GGS and quickened clear from 1.5f out to win comfortably. He looked a smallish but ready type and used his length well. The time was moderate to average but he won with some comfort.
  • The trainer said in interview that they had run here to give him some experience before he ran in the Lily Agnes on a tight track. He said he had a couple of others who could work with this one. Profile [75]
  • May 4th: Chester
    5f Conditions
  • Has been targeted at this race since before his debut last week. Has looked a ready type and slightly limited by his size but should be able to show some improvment from that debut.  Profile [81]
  • May 4th: Chester
    Post Race
  • Strongly supported at 11/10 to 10/11f in a lopsided market. Had looked the best of the once raced winners with potential in the field on his run 7 days previously. Looked very fit and ready here. Smaller than Ooh Aah Camara and possibly has less scope.
  • Broke acceptably from his good draw in 2 but settled 6th and one off the rail. 3 lengths off the leaders at halfway and travelling well. Switched right to challenge wider into the straight as the leaders stalled. Showed a sharp change-of -pace to go clear with Ooh Aah Camara and showed better acceleration that the filly. However, the bigger filly gained on him after she had got going and they battled to the line.
  • Looks a ready 2yo with a sharp turn of pace which will gain 2-3 lengths but appears to be vulnerable to bigger types. Can rate higher but may be best in Conditions races where he can use his change-of-pace. Estimate [90]
  • May 18th: Goodwood
    5f Listed
  • Trainer has his 2yos very well forward in 2005 and would not expect notable improvement here. Profile [92]
  • June 16th: York
    5f Group 3
  • 15/8f at Goodwood in an average field and a muddling, rough race. Lost a length at the start and raced in the centre away from the rail in the first half of the race. About a length off the pace at halfway anf the jockey surprisingly decided that was the time to launch his run for home. As in his previous runs he showed the same quickeing to gain 3L and go two lengths clear hanging across the front of the packed group as he did it and just about getting away with not doing enough hampering to get disqualified. Held on the the 2L lead for the last 2f.  Estimate [89]
  • Has looked a small and ready type and very fit on debut and lacking great 2yo scope. Has a notable ability to quicken and find 2-3L but has shwon this against lesser opposition than he meets here. It's possible he might have his finishing spurt run out of him.  Profile [92]
  • June 18th: York
    5f Listed
  • Quite strong support at 7/4f fro the Norfolk Stakes 2 days ago. Got a slightly slow break and in a race with a strong pace probably 3L down early. Masta Plasta and Classic Enconter hooked up early and set the pace close to the stands' rail. They drew clear towards the final furlong and he had to use his 'burst' to attempt to cross the gap. Classic Encounter faded in the last furlong which allowed him to head him near the line. Masta Plasta kept on well of fthe pace and never looked like getting to him.
  • Turns out two days later in a lesser race and giving 4-11lb to the others. The best horse in the field but the recent race must have been a strong effort so can he reporduce it here. Profile [94]
