April 26th: Bath
5f Auction |
Made lowish price at Tattersalls Ireland sales.
By second season sire that made a very good impression in 2004 with a good
set of sprint 2yos, including early 5f winners. He has had a 5f winner
already in 2005.
Dam was an average 6f 2yo winner in Ireland.
Trainer has had an increase in 2yos in the last two seasons. The earlier
debuts in the season tend to be winners during the season at various levels.
In normal seasons debuts are competent but only the best runners win FTO.
Has an acceptable pedigree to be a minor sprint 2yo winner. Unlikely to
be 'wound up' on debut. Profile [54]

May 5th: Folkestone
5f Maiden |
8/1 fourth favourite on debut in soft ground. Ran a good race in leading
the race by a neck at halfway. He made an effort and went a length clear
inside 2f out but then tired in the last furlong and just lost the lead
to a runner who had followed him and been unable to go with him as he made
his effort. The race was run in a very slow time and the runners came over
to the stands' side indicating soft going at least. Estimate [65]
Trainer tends to identify his better 2yos before they run and he made an
above average debut by the trainer standards. Penalised 2lb for sales price.

May 11th: York
5f Novice |
2/5f against mostly newcomers. Travelled well behind the pacemaker and
quickened clear in the last furlong. Looked a smallish type and lacking
great scope to develop but a solid build with muscular quarters. Estimate
[70]
Looks slightly limited by his size but a natural, early 5f 2yo. Has shown
an ability to quicken on both of his runs after travelling well close to
the pace on softer going. Penalised 4lb for his win. Profile [79

June 16th: York
5f Group 3 |
Strongly supported as 4/6f at York on soft ground in a race with a good
pace. Travelled ok as usual and 1.5L off the leader at halfway. Made an
effort at 2f out and made up most of the ground to the leader and then
stalled and faded away again in the last half furlong. Estimate [68]
Comparing his run here in May with his first run at Bath it seems he did
not quite see out the 5f on softer ground and when tasked with following
a good pace. He shows a good cruising speed and can quicken a little and
find 1-2L against lesser types. Unlikely to be able to compete with better
sprinters here but still interesting for later in the season in a lesser
race given his overall ability. Profile [74]
