Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
May 20th: Haydock
5f Auction
  • Made a solid price at the Goffs sales and notably better than the previous foal.
  • Sire has a very good record with 2yos and ok for producing 6f and precocious runners. Two of his previous four runners in 2005 have already won, one on debut and the other STO. Another has put up a very strong debut over 6f.
  • Well related dam was unraced. She has produced a moderate to average 5f 2yo from a much less precocious sire - Hernando.
  • Younger trainer has varied his strategy with 2yos but seems to have settled for development debut runs. The FTO winners tend to be the better types and are more likely in the earlier stages of the season.
  • FTO SP does show some correlation to the actual performance and a shorter SP is significant.
  • He has had five debuts so far in 2005 and all have been to a similar form level and have placed between 2nd to 6th depending upon the quality of the race.
  • In summary has the pedigree to be a competitive 5f 2yo at 70+ but trainer has not targeted strong debuts in 2005.  Profile [58 + 2 = 60]]
  • June 2nd: Sandown
    5f Auction
  • 50/1 on debut at Haydock as the trainer second string. Drawn high he made a good break and settled in behind the leaders towards the stands' side. The pacemakers grop together on the far side of the big field and were 2-3L ahead of the 'weak' side. The pacemakers faded and four of the first five came from his side. Ran freely overall. 4L off the leaders at halfway and slightly outpaced soon after before plugging on witht he weak side group as the leaders faded. Dead heated for 4th with his stablemate.  Estimate [62]
  • Ran a solid debut by trainer standards although not showing real 5f pace (held up to try to stop him running freely may have stopped this). Moderate improveement.  Profile [68 + 3 = 71]
  • June 7th: Redcar
    6f Maiden
  • 7/4f with support at Sandown in a chaotic race runs in a slow time where the stands' rail was probably a notable advantage. Drawn 2 well off the rail and raced at least 4 wide throughout and was carried left to midtrack by a hanging opponent in the last 2f. Ran slightly freely early and again held up and dropped into 3rd. 1L off the leders at halfway and made an effort afterwards bu never got beyond 2nf as the 1st and second got runs through next to the rail. Plugged on ok.  Estimate [59]
  • Steps up to 6f after travelling quite well in moderate 5f races but not showing much when asked to challenge. Had disadvanatges at Sandown LTO but that was a moderate level of form anyway.  Estimate [64].
