May 24th: Ripon
5f Maiden |
Not sold for middling price and notably higher level bid than for the previous
poor foals from the dam.
First season sire has had more runners than any other in 2005.
Made a solid start in 2005 with his 5f runners. He has had 3 winners, including
at Listed level, from 21 runners and a number of other placers. He has
had more runners than any other FSS.
2 of the 21 runners have won on debut and 7 others have placed.
Dam has a minor all sprint pedigree. She has produced two, probably useless,
2yos.
Trainer has good record with 2yos but used to target STO wins and debuts
were normally competent while leaving room for good improvement STO.
He used only to get debut winners with runners in Italy. However in 2003-4
he had 5 debut winners although some of those seemed to be 'accidents'
whereby the natural competence of his debut runners was enough to win weak
races.
This is is seventh debut of the season after a break from three early debuts.
One of the early debuts won a weak race on debut and another won STO. The
latest three debuts have included two winner won. One drifted from 7/1
to 11/1 and the other was a supported favourite in weaker race.
Trainer runs two newcomers in the race with T. Durcan on this one and T.
Queally (who rode the latest debut winner) on Best Offer.
In summary the pedigree could produce a minor sprint 2yo winner but the
dam's record is a worry. Ought to be competent. Profile [62]
