Racing Summary
DATE PROFILE/COMMENTS
June 6th: Windsor
6f Maiden
  • Made a solid price at the Tattersalls Part 1 sales by a third of the price of the previous foal and the best winner the dam has produced.
  • Reviewed at the sales and rated 66 with just about an average chance of being a 2yo winner at his level. Average size and just above average build and slightly lengthy. Did not look an obvious 2yo and therefore a little surprising to see him run in early June.
  • Repatriated sire has not had any recent 2yo runners in Britain. He is best known for winning the Derby but he was a 5f winner at 2yo on his May 2nd debut. His first 2yo runner in 2005 was 2nd at 33/1 in a 6f maiden.
  • Dam well related from the Bloomsbury stud 'Mrs Moss' female line. She was a superior 6f 2yo winner. She has produced one, small, 6f 2yo winner and two other foals that showed better form at 3yo over 10f.
  • Trainer with a set strategy has started running his 2yos over the last week. The first 6 runners have produced 2 wins and three places in moderate races. In general they have looked mostly ready but not wound up and have competed well partly because of the weakness of the opposition.
  • The earliest runners in each season will include most of the winners. He assesses his 2yos at home before they run and will have a plan with most of them depending upon the ability they have.
  • He runs two in this race with both poorly drawn. This appears to be the first string.
  • In summary could well make a 70ish rated 2yo but below that here and a moderate draw.  Profile [64]
  • June 13th: Thirsk
    7f Maiden - Div I
  • 16/1 at Windsor and got behind early and never in the race.  Estimate [27]
  • Trainer's previous runner in the race ran a similar debut in the same Windsor maiden. That filly ran 4th here, ran a clunker on the all weather and then came back to place 2nd twice stepped up to 8f in nurseries. Has he got the same cunning plan with this one?
  • Third STO run for the trainer and solid improvement. Steps up to 7f.  Profile [58]
